Two days ago I came home to a sick duck. She is a 9 month old female Fawn Runner with a runny nose and a swollen eye. One eye is crusty and almost swollen shut and the eyeball itself looks sunken. Her other eyelid was ripped and bleeding. I am not sure if it was pecked or she just cut it on...
So after mulling over raising baby ducks my husband and I are going to pull a switcharoo. I have two turken hens that like to go broody. I am going to let them lay their clutches and then swap them out with my duck eggs. We will see if that works.
I have already put them into the nesting coop...
My husband and I have had this white hen for almost two years. She's not a White Rock, but we can't figure out what she is. She's very sweet and quiet. Normally her comb and face are white, but flush red when she runs. We have both tried to figure it out but can't pin it down.

I am interested in the subject of a forced molt. We only covered it very briefly in my poultry breeding class and I wanted some more info on the subject.
Would it really even be possible in a free-range situation?
