    Hatchers

I read that some people move there eggs from one incubator to another as they pip? (or at least I think that is what they meant). So what is the difference between a incubator and a hatcher?

How do you determine the sex of Black Copper Maran chicks?

I purchased eggs from a breeder and 5 hatched. They are Black Copper Marans. BC was marked on these eggs. Is there a way to tell roos from pullets in the baby chicks by color or do I need to wait for comb to color and crowing to start.

New chicken lover with a sick chick

I have a 15 week old pullet. She is lethargic, losing feathers randomly. Her eyes are dry, no apparent lesion or "bugs". She allowed me to easily pick her up as before she was skittish. No discharge from nose. Still waiting for a poop to check for smell, consistancy, and color. Any...

WHAT AGE TO START FREE RANGEING

My chicks are 7 weeks old and I would like to start free rangeing them. They have been in the coop for 3 weeks and go into the hen house every nite. It only took 2 nights for them to begin going in every nite. There are only a few (about 4) that use the roost and the others just sit on the...

Mixing month old chicks with day old chicks

My chicks are now 1 month old and out of brooder box and in the run with access to the henhouse. Would it be inappropiate to get week or day old chicks and put them with the older chicks. I would keep them in a brooder box in the hen house with the older chicks. I still have the heat lamp...
