I need help with breeds again.
Here are two of my chipmunk looking chicks. I have 12 and I keep getting confused since they all look so similar.
This one I had posted about a few days ago. It keeps changing so I wanted to check and see if it is a Delaware.
And I just wanted...
I just recieved 27 hatchery chicks. While I have figured out most, I was stumped on the following. Any help would be appreciated :)
I'm clueless on because of the brown spot on its head.
And could these be Brahmas?
A local girl hatched this little cutie and might be loaning it to our flock. I was just wondering if anyone had a breed or gender guess. I might have to pick up an extra chick from the feed store to keep it company till it is old enough for the coop.
I couldn't resist this $20 beauty from Craigslist. He said she was a Bantam Game. Does that mean Old English Game hen?
And than these three I got from a very smelly home (reminded me of a puppy mill). I really hope they aren't sick. But they are really sweet and already come running...
These are Pig and New, my two Guineas. They have two different calls so I'm pretty sure one is a girl and one a boy. I just wanted to see if their appearance was any clue to their gender. (Figaro just wanted to say hello as well).
I think I know but I just wanted to see your thoughts?
My not so shy Chick, Butch:
And my shy one, Mr. Petibone:
I can only get them out of the coop when It's cleaning day. They still love their home.
We bought our farm house in May and the two acres have inspired me to raise chickens. I had one RIR growing up (Rosie) and love the idea of watching the birds peck around the yard.
The funny part is- I don't eat eggs. I think I was around five when I decided the smell wasn't appealing. I...
Not sure if this was a great idea but they seem to be getting along. Is there any danger signs that I should look for? How much pecking is ok? Right now the guineas are perched on the top of the box and the chicks are pitching a fit. I think the chicks might like the keets more than the...
My husband wants me to post pictures of his handy work ;) So here they are!
This was my birthday present this year. I merged some of the plans from this site and asked my husband to build it. We love it and haven't had any problems so far.
I was wondering how many chickens do you think...
On my hunt for new chickens, I ran across two guineas today- one of them is very blurry. I've been doing a little research and I am thinking about getting them. So I guess I just have a few questions.
How loud are they? Like rooster loud or peacock loud.
Are they going to chase my kids...
This Floridian grew up with one red hen. Now that I have kids of my own and a brand new farm, I'm ready to start my new flock!
I have two mixed breed pullets and 1 EE rooster (just found out today). I may be trading him for a Plymouth Rock or another Easter Egger.
The white and red were sold to me as Rhode Island Reds but I've doubted that from the beginning. I bought the larger one as an easter egger pullet but I'm pretty sure thats the one that just crowed this morning. I think they are all about 10 weeks old. What do you think...do I have three...
