I've had lots of Brodie's and this is a hen who went broody about 5 months ago, hatched and raised chicks then went back to normal egg-laying. Now she is doing all the broody signs again. She stayed on the best for a day then roosted at night. She puffed up and growled while on the roost. What's...
We are fixing to start separating pens and I want to know how long I should wait before I start collecting eggs. The hens get bred by all the roosters out there(but not over bred) and I don't know how long it will take for pure eggs.
We have a gold wyndotte hen and a buff Cochin cockeral who has cholera. One waddle has swelled and so has just under their beak. How do we treat it with tylan injectables?? We need help soon.
I have had three Phoenix hens go broody. The first one went broody back in late October and hatched chicks. About two weeks later another hen went broody in early November. Another went broody late November when the second one was still sitting (we were still trying to break her). We gave those...
For those of you who don't know, BB's are just muff and beardless D'Uccles. They tend to weigh a little more and have longer necks. I own both D'Uccles and Booteds and I love them just the same. So come here to ask questions, show pictures and tell us about your Booted Bantams!

I have two broody hens that are raising chicks outside in a pen. They sleep in a dog house together and sometimes my three banties sleep there too. We have lost 3 chicks. They just disappeared and there are no feathers or anything.

The big one:
The little brown one:
These chicks are around 3-4 weeks old. They are Millie Fluer D'uccle.

Five out of the six eggs have hatched. Still holding out hope for the silent and crackless egg. So far both Phoenix eggs hatched, a white rock egg hatched and two Phoenix/red production cross eggs hatched. The first Phoenix chick looks normal but the second is black with a white spot around its...
The story of Lucky, the bantam RIR hen:

My hen has been sitting for two days now. She is sitting on three red production mix eggs, two white rock eggs and two phoenix eggs. Anyone else setting some eggs? What breeds are they?
Usually my Phoenix hens lay about bantam sized eggs even though they are medium sized birds. Today my oldest hen, who is about 1-2 years old, layed an egg that was very large. It was a perfect fit in the carton for x-large eggs. Is this normal? She has never layed one this size.
I have recently bought three Silver Phoenix hens. I noticed they have nasal discharge but act like normal chickens. They are sneezing and coughing often but one of the my hens is in worse shape. She eats but her craw rarely seems full and her feathers are all ruffled looking. A rooster cane with...
