We have 4 Heritage turkey poults for sale, hatched Sept 1. These were from a Blue Slate Lavender(self-blue) hen with a Blue Slate Tom (he dressed out at 20# last week). They were incubator babies, very acclimated to humans. They have been free range during the day for the past 6 weeks...
We have 9 Heritage turkey poults for sale. These are natural hatch babies from our proven Hen, hatched October 6 & 7. The tom dressed out at 20# last week. There are two Black Slates, we will sell them for 12.50 each. 5 Blue Slates are 15.00 each. We have two Lavender (self blue) poults...
After 2 1/2 summers of no baby turkeys, we are now running out of room! We have 7 adult turkeys, soon to be 6, as one Tom will be Thanksgiving dinner. We finally, nerve-rackingly, successfully hatched some turkey eggs after a three year run of bad luck about a month ago. So we have 7 one...
A few weeks ago, I got an e-mail from PayPal - confirming my transaction with some guy- with an Oriental name I wouldn't try to pronounce- that I had purchased an $899 phone from. It was being shipping to a Mr. Jones (how original) in Houston TX.
I immediately filed a dispute, and then...
I've decided to re-name my new baby turkeys. While in the incubator, we had a power outtage for about 2 hours before we realized (was in the middle of the night), which made me crazy and sure they wouldn't hatch. Then, very early this morning the power went out AGAIN, so there was another mad...
Blue Slate eggs that I just took from the turner this morning. One has a crack on the correct end, the other is pipped thru on the small end. This all happened over 6 hours ago, and there has been no more progress.
Any ideas?
OK, tonight at 10PM the turkey eggs will have been in the incubator for 26 days. I took the Brinsea out of the rocking cradle this morning, and within 3 hours I had one pipped through and one with just some cracks. The one that pipped is pipped in the wrong (small) end. Since it broke...
Tomorrow will be day 26 for the Blue Slate/Lavender eggs (and two chix eggs) in my new (used) incubator. Despite the 2 hour-ish power outtage, I've got HOPE since many of you tell me they should be fine.
I will be firing up the old incubator to use as a brooder tomorrow, taking the new...
Local pick up only. Located between Grand Rapids and Lansing MI. Small flock of Black Aussies. One Roo and 6-8 hens. All birds are just over 2 years old - or less. I am replacing some of my older flock with new birds, and don't have time to butcher all these and can them. They are $5 to...
Woke up this morning to NO electricity! Hubby ran out to start the generator, but incubator showed 75 degrees when it came back on. Not sure exactly where the temp is measured, but after some investigation, it seems the electricity was out about an hour and a half.
I am SICK!!! We had...
I have a young RIR roo (hatched this spring) that I was planning on keeping with my flock of layers after butchering my previous BA roos. I decided I needed to go down to 1 roo to give the girls a break! Anyway... he was fine until a couple of weeks ago, when he started to limp. I can't see...
After another failed hatch in our HovaBator a few weeks ago, I am anxiously awaiting a hatch in our Brinsea Octagon 20 with the humidity pump. I put the eggs in on the 4th at 10 at night, so I'm expecting a hatch on the 1st or thereabouts. There are 8 eggs with a couple of chix eggs I threw in...
Have four eggs that appear to have fully developed that should have hatched on Monday. Weight wise, they were spot on at two weeks. Had some egg rocking going on Monday, so was very hopeful. Had lowered temp to 98.5-99.0, and raised humidity as much as I could with lots of water and paper...
I had 8 Blue slate eggs in an incubator, seemingly doing fine two weeks ago. They had lost the proper amount of weight and the air sac was looking good. They should have hatched on Monday, early this morning I carefully candled the eggs and found 4 obvious duds and 4 that look like they have...
Have a Brinsea EX on the way, and my lavender hen is still laying what I hope are fertile eggs. Anyone out there have experience hatching turkeys in these incubators? Thanks!
OK, have finally given up on foam incubators and and a Brinsea Oct Advance EX on the way. I have a few questions for those of you who have had more success than we have with breeding birds, 'cuz we've put in a lot of time, sweat and effort with poor results.
So... anyone have experience...
So... I've put yogurt in there and ground organic oats, as well as their usual vitamin/electrolyte stuff. They are now all in a "hospital" bin in my upstairs bathroom, and I've been changing the paper towels all day. I've been dipping beaks to keep them drinking.
Any other advice???? These...
Tried posting this under emergencies earlier, but no luck. Week old Bourbon Red, blowing thick mucus bubbles out beak. Rinsed his mouth by dipping his beak in clear water - lots of junk came out.
He's been on vitamin/ACV water the week I've had him, seemed fine until today.
Any ideas...
Found one of my weak old poults blowing thick mucus bubbles from his beak. Helped him rinse it out with clean water by gently dipping his beak. He then vomited some feed. Have isolated him with one other that keeps shaking his head.
They've been having ACV and vitamins in their water...
We have an older style candler, and I have a really hard time seeing through the turkey eggs - the darker color and harder shell really cause me grief!
Any recommendations? Am thinking of buying a different one - but price IS an issue.
What kinds have any of you found that work well for...
