my uncle has over 30 chicks, 12 weeks this friday. he said the other day that he stoped giving them chick starter & started giving them layer pellets already. the chicks are still peeping & makein some new squacks too. he says they are fixin to start laying, & i said no they are not,, they are...
this is my DH's uncle coop & run. this coop & run is just as good as free to build. first pic shows how the roof over the door is,, right now there is 1 window, but will be adding more

my DH'S uncle recieved a RIR rooster & 2 pullets,, we have no idea what kind they are . can anyone help in naming the breed?? they are a smaller chicken, about half the size of a RIR. with bluish/gray legs.

my DH's uncle is making a coop & run that has honeysuckle vines in the run,, would the honeysuckle be ok to leave in or should it be taken out? wil it make the chickens sick?
what is?should be the best way to disposae of the shavings & pooh after cleaning of pen/coop/brooder/etc.?
we had been taken the shavings to the dump & now that winter was here & about over,, we have been putting them in the garden.
will this affect the growth of our new crop of veggies this...
