How hard is it for you to sell your "barnyard mix/mutt" chickens?

I was thinking about getting some fertile eggs for one of my broody hens to hatch out this summer just for fun. Was just wondering, how hard is it for you sell mutt chickens? Do they usually go quick or are people usually not interested since theyre not pure breeds? And how much do you usually...

Can broody mothers raise babies as a group ?

Just a question for the future when I have more chickens. Can mothers raise their young together? I was thinking I could build a little coop that has several large nests in it, for each mother to brood her eggs and then when they hatch they can all sleep together as a family, but during the day...

Does anyone have pictures of meat from standard/heritage breed chickens?

I was just curious as to if I could get a decent amount of meat from cockerels or old laying hens.... If any of you have some before and after pictures of some regular chickens (not broilers) you have raised, and then processed, I would enjoy seeing the turn out.... Also if you know the breed...

I live in the city so we have tons of rats and mice living in our hedges here. Everynight I go out and there are tons of mice and rats eating my chickens feed and crawling around. We have been setting traps and usually catch at least one a night when we set them, and we have also tried using...

How much are you suppossed to feed a chicken everyday?

I have been just refilling their feeder whenever I see it getting low. Feed prices are getting high and theyre eating a ton! I would love to cut back and feel as if I am already feeding them more then they really need. How much feed (cups) do you think I need to give 7 chickens everyday? Thanks !

Is it normal for my silkie to be laying an egg every day ?

I'm not complaining or anything at all, the more eggs the better ! But I thought silkies only lay like an egg every few days or like one a week. My silkie is not full bred however. Her first egg was like a tinted white/ cream egg, which she laid about 2 weeks ago. But she only laid that egg once...

Got my first egg, so glad spring is here !

After waiting for so long, my silkie mix hen (which was an adult when I purchased her) finally laid her first egg. She was making odd loud noises and going in and out of the nest boxes all week so we were assuming she was going to lay an egg all week. How about any of you? Have your ladies...

Is my silkie going to lay her first egg soon or something ?

So usually she is so quiet. But yesterday she went up into the coop, which none of the chickens do unless they are going to sleep, (my chickens are only about 13 weeks old, except for the silkie who we bought sold as "adult silkie". But anyway she went up to the coop to lay in there and then she...

We have 6 little pullets, Im not quite sure how old they are but we got three of them a few days before christmas and 3 a few days after, and they were being sold as "day olds" but I think they were probably a bit older. If some breeds start laying at different ages, Ill just tell you the...
