I have a father-son duo of Magpie ducks. father is 3, son is 2. -- mom died last summer. due to winter, they are in with my chickens; they're terrorizing my hens. As soon as the snow melts, they're going to another pen permentantly.I'm wondering if I should get another female or two as company...
Has any one bought banties from TSC? If you have, do you have any idea what type they were? I'm thinking of buying some from there; I'm curious of what I muight get. When asked, the employees said "chickens".
I'm trying to find a good book about different breeds of chickens / poultry and their breed standards. So far, everything that I've found is more towards caring about birds; I only want breeds. I can find a million books like this for dogs, cats, horses, fish -- no chickens!! Can anyone help?
Anyone else watching "Are You Smarter Then a Fifth Grader?" Its pitting the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders against the kids. The cheerleader hasn't got anything right. She's had to get help on every question! I can't believe this. It should be "Are You Smarter then a Kindergardener ?"!
I've been using the same blue bucket to feed the flock since I don't know when. Recently, my Dutch bantam roo has been attacking the bucket as soon as I open the door to the run. Its kind of funny cuz the bucket's bigger then he is. He will only go after this one bucket. If I use another...
Someone stole my mail out of my home mailbox which had several statements and an order of checks in it!!! In broad daylight!!! Then wrote several checks in town by forging my husband's name! Doesn't anyone asked for ID at stores!?! I felt like I lost my security!!! It just show you how...

as I'm typing, there's a pileated woodpecker at my suet feeder. As its eating, the other smaller woodpeckers are pestering him to leave. As one or two does this, another one sneaks in for a mouthful! The pileated is about 4xs the size as the other ones! He just left! All the other birds are...
My little Dutch Bantam roo Er's area between his eyes and earlobes are swollen on both sides of his head and he does have a little discharge (snot?) coming from his nostrils. The swollen areas don't seem to hurt; he let me gently touch them. He seems to be fine other wise -- eating normal...
I'm thinking of ordering several chicks to raise just for the meat. It doesn't matter what they look like or how fast they develop. What would be a good breed to buy for "dinner chickens"?
Has anyone bought chicks from Tractor Supply Company before? Do you know where they get the chicks from? Our local tsc should have chicks in a couple of months and I was tossing around the idea of getting a few.
This coming week, we're supposed to be getting extreme cold weather -- below 0 for the high. I came home from work yesterday and my husband says " Look what I did". I'm thinking "OMG now what?" He put up 2 more heat lamps in the coop for my flock!! His reply "I put all the time and effort in the...
Come this spring, I want to buy several Bantam pullets, preferably Dutch of any color. I ordered 12 chicks last year from ideal; of course only the roos survived throughout the year. I live in the UP of Michigan; i'm willing to meet someone within a hour or 2 drive of where i'm at -- Wisconsin...
My daughter has a Magpie male and a Cayuga female. I thought I read somewhere that the cayuga was a foundation breed for the Magpie. Does that mean that they can successfully breed? My daughter is hoping for a batch of ducklings this spring. If not, I'll have to try to find a female for Louie.
