Hi first time allow a duck to hatch some eggs, her eggs are at day 35 but ducks still havent broken into the airsac but are really pushing against it as you can see a shadow in the airsac when candling. How long would others leave them before intervening? They are still alive at the moment.
Hi everyone.
I have 4 muscovy ducks, 3 girls and 1 drake that are about 17 weeks.I know they are still too young to lay yet but 2 of my girls are going in and out of the coop all day. Now I know with chickens this is an early stage of starting to lay, now is it the same with muscovys? Before...

I am new to owning Muscovy ducks but I believe I have 2 boys and two girls going by the length between beak to tip of tail. Anyway I am interested in what others think.

Should I worry if my 20 week sexlink pullet sits on a fake egg and makes urrring noises. This is the second time I have caught her doing it, should I take the fake ones out???
I have six red sexlink (20 weeks) 2 showing signs of ready to lay... Squating, one has become aggressive when trying to pat her and checking out the nesting boxes ... I say they looking pretty unsettled today .. Is this what people call ancy?? If it should be any day yeah ??
I am looking to expand my flock, I would like to avoid getting roos. Is there a way for a newbie to tell which are pullets and which are roos?? I am unsure at this point which type I want so looking for a general rule here
Thanks in advance
I have 6:1 pullets to rooster ratio. The pullets are 20 weeks and have not started laying as yet, but should be anytime ( RSL) even though the roo (amber sexlink) is going today is it possible my girls could be under stress??
If a roster is crowing and trying to mate with the girls is it possible to get fertile eggs?? His 19 weeks old if that makes any difference, cause I would like some chicks from him before the pot.
I have an amber roo and 6 Isa's or production reds( can't tell the difference) just wondering your thoughts on breeding these two together?? Also is there a chance one girl will go broody or should I invest in a incubator?
also at what age is it best to let a chicken go broody for the best...
I have a 17 week old amber link so I think but it does look very similar to the roo for the isa brown. The colours suggest male but it only has a short tail, also showing no sign of male behaviour and no spur growth and certainly no crowing. Does the amber link roo have the long curled tail...
