My chicken died... Can someone help tell me why??

Hi all, My silkie died tonight :-( I went out to shut their doors and she was still outside barely moving. Brought her in, realised liquid was coming out of her mouth. We tipped her upside down thinking it was sour crop but the liquid was clear and odourless. We then realised it was also coming...

Hiya, I mixed my two silkie flocks last night ready for this morning. One flock has three mature girls and the other has three girls and a rooster at 5 months, all flocks the same body size. The hens seem ok with each other- mild pecking. But my rooster is flying into wild attacks with the...

Hi guys. I have six 3 week old silkie chicks all the same age give or take a few hours. They've suddenly sprouted crowns and there is a clear divide in how they look- 3 have thin spikey combs and 3 have small walnuts. They're all related so no breed/genetic differences. Here they are... Roo...

    The coolest thing...

... Happened earlier. If I shine my torch through my incy wall I can see through the air sac. This is how I knew 2 of my silkies had pipped internally. I was watching one of their beaks waving around in the cell, then it dipped out of view. Next thing I knew, up it popped again cracking the...

    Tips for hatching silkies.

Hi all, my silkies are due to hatch on the 7th. Beginning to get very nervous now about doing everything correctly. I only have 5 eggs in my Brinsea and my silkie hens are no longer fertile (rooster removed) so they're the last chance my girls will get at being mummies! Although they won't go...

Hi guys! I'm totally new here, and new to hatching. Have a feeling this wont be my first and last attempt either! I thought I'd share my pics with you.
