Can I rehabilitate my chicken killing puppy?

My six month old German Shepherd puppy went on a killing spree and killed twelve of my hens a couple days ago. He's been around the chickens since I brought him home at 7 weeks old and ignored them for the most part. He would chase a few halfheartedly but never tried to bite them. Now it's...

Hen lays eggs while on the roost

I have 6 RIR hens that are coming up on their 2nd birthdays. One of them, (I assume it's just one) is dropping her egg off the roost bar onto the coop floor. Lucky for me it's pretty deep with bedding and none of her eggs have broken yet. But I don't get why she's doing it. Is it just a...

Hen pecks feathers from bird and eats them

I have a RIR hen that chases my Cornish X chicks (5wks), plucks the feathers from them and then eats the feathers. Is that weird or what! I always know it's happening because I can hear the chicks squawking and running away. They stay in a stall in the barn and the hen jumps in there to bully...

I have a young BO roo that needs a new home. He's approx 8 mos old. Is gentle with people. You can pick him up and pet him. He's good with the hens too. He's the number two rooster here so he gets pushed around a lot, even by the hens. I only want one roo so this nice fella can be yours...

    Wayland, MI - Araucana/Americana Roosters - sell/trade - Pick up only

I have four young roosters too many. I would gladly trade them all for a young BO hen or broody hen of any large breed. Three of them are Araucana/Americana X (I guess ) the other is RIR/Araucana mix. They are easy to get along with and quite handsome if I do say so myself.

Roosters 7mos old - Auracanas? Sell 'em or Stew 'em?

I bought some young roos so I could get the two Buff Orpington roosters in the group, now I have these 3 extra roos running around and I don't want/need them. They were sold to me as Araucanas. Don't know 'nuff 'bout it to be sure. Do they look like it to you? What you might not be able to...

Selling eggs, raising chicks, Roosters with the hens. Some questions.

I have a small flock of 7 RIR hens for eggs. I've been selling the extras to family members. This summer, I would like to add to my layers and sell eggs to the public too. But, I also want to try to raise chicks with a few hens doing the work. That means I'll need a rooster hanging around...

WTB in Michigan-Delaware hens and a Delaware roo

I'm interested in getting some Delawares this spring to add to my flock of RIR hens. Wanting them for eggs and meat, but also because they are considered rare and I would like to help with preserving them for the future. Hoping the hens will brood and raise chicks to keep my flock growing...

    Delawares as meat birds?

Anyone raise Delawares for meat birds? I'm thinking about getting some, hoping the hens will go broody, raise more and free me of having to buy chicks every spring. I was reading up on rare breeds and decided on them. I like the Delawares, they were originally bred as meat birds, but are now...

Hatching eggs with a broody hen

That's not a crazy idea is it? I'm thinking about trying to hatch eggs this summer so I don't have to rely on buying new chicks every year. Here's my idea. Please tell me what you think or if you think there is a better way to accomplish my goal. I have laying hens now and will add more this...
