Hi all, new to buttonquail here. This is my second hatch. The first group is doing well. They are about 5 weeks old now, no problems.
Second group is 2 days old. None of them will eat or drink. Two of them have died already. I'm frantic.
Help! What am I doing wrong?

I am planning for building tractors for broilers and am confused. It seems like nobody secures the bottom of the tractors for broilers, like they do for their layers. Am I missing something? lol
Something would dig under and kill my birds in a day or two.
Thanks!
Any tips for encouraging my serama hen to lay? She's young but she rarely lays anything. I'm wondering if there's something special she would like for her nest.
Thanks!
First time with ducks. I have 4 cayuga mixed girls. Have been getting nice size, cream colored eggs for about a week or so, one or two a day. Today I have 1 small, olive green egg. The only other birds in the coop overnight were seramas who have not laid any eggs yet. This egg is about 2inches...
I need help planning a new coop. It needs to be very secure as we have foxes, raccoons, and rats. :(
Does anyone have any ideas? I'm at my wits end!

Do any of you keep any indoor chickens? I just ordered a diaper and plan to bring one of my girls in to help cut down on the cricket population that moves in every fall. My question is... What do you do at night? I read that you should clean the diaper out as soon as it gets dirty. Do you keep...
This beauty was found and given to me today. No Spurs, not even little nubs. Very docile and timid. The hackle feathers throw me off. I'm clueless. Lol
5 of my roos are out in the run, crowing as loud as they can. Not one hen is out in the run, they are all in the coop. Is it possible they are trying to scare off a predator or do you think they are just "boys being boys"? lol

I rescued this beautiful boy from being butchered because his owner had too many roos. I can see Polish frizzle but I'm wondering if he doesn't even has some silkie in him. His feathers are so long and soft, more like my sizzle than my frizzles. Is there such a thing as a polish sizzle? :)
I...
I have several 5 month old chickens that I was sure were roos, based on their long tail feathers and colorful feathers. Now, one of them is doing the submissive squat every time I reach for her and I haven't heard one cock-a-doodle-doo out of the group. No aggressive behavior, no crowing...
This pretty girl (I hope) is a mix of I-have-no-idea-what. She is getting more and more orange-ish feathers. I'm not really concerned with what she is. Just thought she was kinda cool. She's the sweetest chicken ever. Walks right up to you to be held and gets lots of attention and love from...
I have two newly hatched chicks that have feathered legs/feet. One of my roos is a cochin frizzle with feathered feet. Is it likely that the chicks will be frizzled also or can they have just some of the father's attributes?
BTW, I know this is silly and I'll know in a few days but I am DYING...
I'm very happy to announce that one of my red sex links has gone broody and has been happily sitting on 5 eggs since Friday. I've read that those girls rarely go broody so I was not expecting it. Also, my frizzle is leaning towards brooding. Her chicks are about 7 weeks old now so she must be...
I moved my girls to their new coop/run about 10 days ago. Egg production has dropped by about 30 percent. I've checked all over and found no hidden eggs and they are not currently free ranging while they adjust to the new coop so I'm pretty sure I would find them. They seem pretty happy...
My silkie recently sat on three eggs. She broke one egg after a week and then killed one chick as soon as it hatched. I took the last egg and hatched it under a heat lamp. This is the chick. It's about 2 weeks old. Does it look like the long feathers coming in are silkie? If so, do you think...
My little frizzle hen decided last night to take her 2 week old babies to the main coop to roost. I was shocked! She has a little brooder coop that she has been using but apparently she felt they were ready for the big time. They roosted up on a hay bale with all the other hens. Everything...
