    scissor beak silkie adult rooster

When he was hatched his beak was only a little crooked. As time has gone on, it seems to be getting worse. He is still eating fine and drinking from what I can tell. I've read trimming his beak might help him. I know he can't breed so I have separated him from my other silkies. Should I cull...

    Beautiful Smooth SIzzle

I know when we all get an "one-of-a-kind" sizzle to us, we are so wanting to share with others... and this girl may not be "one-of-a-kind" but every time I look at her, I am thinking how pretty she is! Her mother is a grey sizzle and her father a partridge silkie. I love her smooth coat and...

    blue silkie X sizzle?

I have a blue grey color rooster silkie (mother is a grey sizzle) but the rooster expresses regular feathering. The color is a unique light grey almost blue color. I'll attach a picture tomorrow. I was wanting to know if I breed him with a sizzle hen, what my ratio of frizzled feathering...

Silkie Sizzle Rooster with Red Ears, Red Comb with black dots???

This guy is pretty cool but I think his red ears, eyes and comb is not sizzle breeding material. His skins is light grey but he face is really pink/red! I am just starting my second generation of sizzles so I don't think I want to use him... I am correct? Right? I was wondering if I should save...

Newly hatched chicks with red like droppings

I have hatched the chicks in an incubator so they have not been outside. Some one is having red liquid droppings... can the adults pass cocci to the eggs? I have probiotic/vitamin water and medicated chick feed. They are about 2 weeks old. Any ideas? No other symptoms other than that...

Sizzle Rooster with a VERY RED Comb

His parents are a grey sizzle hen and a partridge rooster. I think the hen has a little red comb but really had not noticed how red because it is so covered up with fluff! He has black spots on his comb. I am trying to sell him because I know I can't breed him back to my sizzle project but he...

frizzled silkie X smooth feathered sizzle

I have a smooth feathered sizzle rooster. If I breed him to a frizzled silkie, will have a chance of getting a sizzle? I know if I breed him to a sizzle, I'll have a higher percentage of sizzles but what about a frizzled silkie producing sizzles? AND what if I breed a frizzled silkie to a...

White silkie rooster X grey sizzle hen

I have several chicks from a white silkie rooster and a grey sizzle hen... all of the chicks look grey (they are all about 2 weeks old). I thought I would get other colors instead of grey, is grey always dominate? White is always recessive? Would the chicks have an recessive white gene? I...

Hens going broody on the same nest? Is this normal??

I have a hen that became broody and then I sold the rooster (I had enough white silkies), so that only left two hens. One that was broody (the grey sizzle) and the one that wasn't (splash silkie). Since then, the splash has decided to help out... they sit on the nest together. I'm thinking it...

    Silkie with white middle toe??

I ordered eggs off Ebay and two silkies hatched with a yellow/white middle toe... is that a cochin trait? Does it mean it is not a full silkie? What about the color of their beak? The bottom picture is supposed to be a sizzle chick. Thank you for your info.
