I live in North College Hill in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is it's own city. I am trying to get city council to change the law, which now states:
1184.03 CHICKENS, DUCKS, RABBITS AND SIMILAR ANIMALS.
The keeping of chickens, ducks, rabbits and similar farm animals, and cages, coops and enclosures...
I got 6 chicks on Wednesday. Picked them up at the local hatchery. I am feeding them fermented chick feed, and 5 of them are doing great. One seems to not be eating. She is drinking, and seems to be trying to eat, her tongue sticks out the side of her beak when she drinks or tries to eat. She is...
I'll get some better pics later. They all seem healthy and are all eating and drinking and running around! They love their fermented food. :) They are just so adorable, I could watch them all day!!!

I was going to set up a dust bath for my chicks. I have read that you can just use dirt from outside, or peat moss, or sand. I have some organic seed starter, would that be ok to use in case the ground is still frozen when they get here?
I just found out that I can order 6 chicks from my local hatchery and pick them up. These will be my first chickens. I was wondering how much chick feed will I need to get? I would rather get what I will need at once, and not run out.
Thanks,
Michelle
