This is "Ginger" a Golden Lace Polish we got at the POOPS. She was not laying when we got her in April 2009 so we feel she is less than 2yrs. We are in OKC and would prefer local pick-up so she is not stressed with shipping.
I bought a few birds from the Newcastle, Ok Auction last night.
A Trio of Mottled Houdans and a pair of Sultans.
They were all from the same flock and NPIP tested.
One of my Houdan Roosters is having trouble walking, he'll take a few steps and looks like he's drunk but then he just falls over on...
Alright, I've read on a few boards that talk about frizzles.
Now, I'm hatching out a couple dozen silkies, which I was told was good for getting Frizzles, and I'm planning on, by next summer, to pair up a silkie roo and one of my hens, possibly my black crested white polish.
Would that be an...
When you hatch out frizzled chicks, can you tell immediately after it drys out if a chick is frizzled or not? Or do you have to wait for it to fully feather out?
I just got back from my coop. I found one of my Cochins up there dead. Her comb was torn in two, and her wattles were gone. the back of her neck was exposed. I don't have a roo to blame. So, what would cause the other hens gang up on her? She was one of my healthiest birds, too.
As the title says, I'm going to be hatching eggs, but since I've no Roo I planned to get Hatching eggs may 1st/2nd round there. So, I've been trying to see if I could get my hens to go broody.
I've 13 hens so I figured at least one of them's got to have a want to be a mother.
The flock consists...
My hen had recently started laying (just a few days ago), her first and second eggs were bound.
Currently after just fixing her second egg binding, the membrane had dryed on the first eggbinding and I prayed she would wait to have the second but now I had to cut the stuff away and it's just...

My mom has recently fallin in love with this breed, so being the loving daughter that I am, I'm looking EVERYWHERE for this bird. I only want one or since I'm also getting chicks in may, and I do prefer fully grown hens.
Hello there,
I'm a 16 year old Okie, one who is totally addicted to chickens. . I don't know how large my soon to be "coop" is at this time, but I want to know how big a coop needing to house 26 hens need to be. What I have now I know won't be big enough (unless my dad DOES let me convert the...
As stated above, I'm looking for started pullets near Oklahoma City/Bethany area also I could probably do the Paulsvalley area if need be. I can't do out of state pick-ups, nor can I drive very far. My prefered breed are Polish and Cochins, but at this point, I can do any sort of Standard sized...
Preferably Standard Cochin or Polish. I've got 26 chicks on the way, and my mom wants started pullets, she's worried that the chicks will need older hens to show them what to do, I disagree, but who knows, I could be wrong, I've never ordered my birds, they've always just been there, but I moved...
