Khaki Campbell duck won't stop quacking

Hi,I have a question that I can find an answer to. I have 3 KC ducks about 2 years old (2M, 1F). A couple of days ago one of the males started to quack non-stop...all day and all night. He has also lost his wing feathers and seems to have changed colours. The feathers may have happened before...

    Horrible smell

I have about 30 eggs in the hatcher (lock down). All looked pretty good going in, but after 1 day the ABSOLUTE WORST SMELL EVER started coming out. 7 chicks have hatched so far (a day early) and seem to be doing really well...better than other hatches that I've had at this point. Anyway, should...

    Is this normal?

I have about 7 hatching eggs with cracked or broken shells, but after almost 24 hours no chicks have emerged and all seem to be stuck inside the internal membrane. I haven't opened the incubator in 4 days. I don't know what the humidity level is, but it should be up there.

    When to give up?

My eggs are due to hatch today. I'd been candling the eggs with inconclusive results. I did throw out the clear eggs and something was growing in the ones that I left in the incubator, but I couldn't see through the shells enough to tell what. Anyway, they've been 'locked down' for the last...

    Newly hatched chick not eating

I have a hen that hatched five (/7) of her own eggs. There was a crack in the nest that allowed the chicks to fall through that I didn't know about and assumed that the other chickens got to them and ate them. Fortunately I found them in time and after a couple of days without water four of...

    Hatched chick not eating

One of my chickens hatched five eggs, but one of the chicks is not eating and has probably not eaten since it was born 4 days ago. It just stands there and peeps. I've been dropping water ground up food down it's throat and its mother pecks it to try to get it to eat, but nothing. Anybody have...

Barred Rock + Rhode Island Red = ???

Hi, I have a barred rock hen and a rhode island red rooster. The hen has just started to sit on her eggs, so I'm just wondering if the offspring would be viable. I'm going to stuff some of the eggs from other RIR chickens in her nest if she's still sitting by tomorrow morning. Thanks for any...

    My homemade auto waterer

Cost was about $20 in parts and about 10 minutes to make. I can post more information if anyone is interested. It connects to a garden hose with a float in a 5 gallon bucket and water is siphoned into the drinking bucket. The parts The drill bit The hole in the bucket Test fit of the...

    Geese and grass

How much additional food is required for geese beyond the grass that they eat? I have some two week olds and they eat grass continually, aside from sleeping with the occasional nibble on some turkey starter. I always assume that they know what they're doing and am just wondering how much extra...

    Rooster in nesting box

I caught my rooster in the nesting box today, twice. I've never seen him go in there before. Is this significant in any way or is just having orientational issues?

    Baby geese outside overnight

I'm in Phoenix AZ and have some two week old geese. I've been leaving them on the patio and they seem very happy, not too cold. The temperature is expected to get down to 58F tonight. Any thoughts on just leaving them in the yard where they run around all day? They're in a big safe run and have...

    Duck brooding question

Hi all. I have a question about a duck that is sitting on her (and other's) eggs. I'd been taking the eggs out (and eating them), so had about a dozen in the refrigerator. Now she's sitting on them. I took the 6 or so that I had in the refrigerator and snuck them back in with vague hopes that...
