My chicken died 16 weeks old

This morning I let the chickens out and went to feed the younger turkeys and ducks (6-8 weeks). Laying against the coop wall was 1 Egyptian faymous. Thats odd she usually sleeps up on top of the nests. I little poke and she wasn't moving. Oh no! She seemed healthy and foraging around the yard...

I can be in a boy band.

This little one is obviously larger than the other brabanters. The faux'hawk is always styled and looks freshly gelled. Long skinny legs and the tail feathers are longer and the "butt wing" is more pronounced. Its hard to see the doohickies under its neck feathers and under the hair doo. Its the...

When to harvest? Best way to weigh.

Have 2 BBs at around 14 weeks. I dont have a weight calculator and so looking at http://extension.missouri.edu/p/G8352#five they should be 8 kilos or 16-17 pounds. I pick mine up and they feel like a pretty heavy bowling ball. Im thinking at 20 weeks they should be 25 pounds at least. Is that...

    10 week old

Purchased black sex links on March 7. Figuring they are a week old from hatch to market, my math puts them at 10 weeks old. Almost 3 months which I read somewhere is about the time to process them. Probably space it out a bit between a few weeks. Is it better to do them all at once? Should I...

    coop cost justification

I see some awesome and well built coops. at what point is the cost of construction too much? I wanted this elaborate shed but $1000 dollars on lumber, materials and time? you will need over 250 dozen eggs at 4$ per dozen for the return on your investment. my coop was built in an existing shed...
