I usually check my girls at night because it's easier to check up on everyone one on one while they are relaxed and one of my hens named Rosewood, appeared to be trying to push something out. I ran inside to grab a napkin to help her and it came out without resistance. It was filled with a clear...
I don't know how these poor babies can even breathe. Is there any way to reduce the size of the bumps?
Also I've heard conflicting information, do chickens remain carriers of fowl pox for life or no?
So I moved a broodie hen and her chicks into a "nursery coop" they've been in there for about 1 week. It looks like they have warts on their faces and beaks. The chicks' beaks look swollen. I know these pics aren't the best but I'm hoping you guys could help me out. What is it and how do I...
It's a 6+ foot tall leafy green plant with purple at the base of it's branches. My chickens really enjoy this plant so I'd like to make sure it can be enjoyed safely.
Thank you :)
This is "Surprise" the 10 week old cockerel. His mom was a Silver Grey Dorking and daddy possibilities are Easter Egger, Gamefowl, and a Barred Rock/Welsummer cross. I got rid of the Barred Rock cross a month or two before the hen laid this egg that became this cockerel. Could he still be the...
So one of the girls in my flock has worms and I am now treating the whole flock. I think they look like tapeworms as they look similar to when one of my dogs had tapeworms last summer. I treated the flock with wazine for 24 hours in their drinking water and they will need their next dose in 8...
Today or last night one of the chicks got picked on and now it's body looks like a balloon! Everything is filled with air besides it's head, legs and feet!!! It's wings are slightly elevated because of all the air and the poor dear looks sleepy. Please help me save her!
Hi everyone,
I have a Red Ranger hen that has been sitting in the nest box once a day since the 24th and I am worried that she may be eggbound.
So far she looks completely fine, no droopy feathers and she is not stressed when in the nest box, she's just not laying.
I have a faulty Brinsea Mini Advance that will not go higher than 88 degrees Fahrenheit even after placing it at it's highest setting of 104 degrees. I need some help/tips on how to raise the temperature. I will be calling Brinsea on Monday. I ordered this incubator in May and just discovered...
The only thing I knew about this cockerel when I got him was that his mom is 1/2 Thai and the rest is unknown. His legs are colored and he does have a pea comb (or what I think is a pea comb). He will be staying with my flock so in time when his offspring lay eggs I guess I will know if he...
