I’ve been fermenting my chickens’ feed. I started a new batch 2 days ago, and today it has some kind of weird-looking fungusy stuff on the top. Has anyone had this, and what is it? I don’t want to feed it to my birds if it’s something nasty.
I have the above that came without the power supply.
2360 - Power Supply for 12V Hova-Bators
Can anyone send a photo of what it says on it so I can determine the 12 volt amperage and the polarity of the connector?
I've saved up eggs I wanted to hatch, but now they're going nowhere. :(
I've been very ill since March of this year. The doctors have been scratching their heads, but we think we've found out the cause, which is toxicity from a medication I've been on for 20 years.
One of the secondary effects, according to them, is histoplasmosis, a disease caught from chicken...
Several of my chickens, and in several months, have been afflicted with bare skin on their necks. It doesn’t appear on other parts of their bodies, nor is it limited to either sex. The outer layer of the skin thickens and turns bright orange. After some time it can be removed without hurting...
It's been on my mind for a year to post what happened last summer.
I'm in East Texas, where it was no surprise that summer brought debilitating heat and brutal humidity. It never caught my mind that those exact conditions were perfect for egg hatching.
There were a number of fertile eggs...
I've little by little started to name my coops. So far I have "The Henterprise" and "Fowl Play." (There's quite a few to go.)
Is there anyone else who does this? What names do you have?
I have two male diamond doves who get along after a rocky start when they lost their girlfriends. One woos the other. A breeder told me that the best success with a male and female is to get siblings, which are apparently part of a clutch of two which every hatch contains. She says each pair is...
It's confirmed that my flocks of lovelies have Marek's. If I pull the eggs and incubate them, will the little ones have Marek's? If I request immunizations from the hatchery and they are eventually put in with the others, my understanding is that they won't get ill, but will become carriers...
All of my chickens are dropping dead, sometimes with symptoms and sometimes without. At times they appear to tumble off their perches during the night after having no discernible trouble the day before. (Notice I say "discernible, as all birds are masters at hiding illness to throw off...
I had some chicks raised by hens that dropped dead one by one. The coop is dusty, but everything else is top-notch. They have clean drinking watering and feed containers, plenty of room, and plenty to eat. There was a chick dead every day.
Now the adult hens are dropping. I don't see anything...
My chickens are eating their eggs! I've looked into why and how to break them of it, though it says it's difficult if not impossible. They have adequate feed, water, calcium, nesting areas, room to run around in, etc. My banties are laying just fine. I had gotten so excited over a month ago when...
Southeast Texas here, specifically Woodville, a little town that nobody's heard of.
I live on three acres in deep country. We can't see the neighbors and they can't see us, though they can hear my roosters. Nice.
I have a flock of frizzles (around 25 or less), both black and white in color...
