My 3 Polish chickens are now 8 months olds there are the bottom of the pecking order and have never crowed.
I have recenlty discovered that all 3 are developing spurs!!!
I thought for sure they were hens up until now.
I have a Broody Cochin sitting on 11 eggs. There hatch date was December 5th. Yesterday I found one egg kicked out of the nest that had not fully developed. Now I am worried that the rest of the eggs may have not fully developed. They last time I candled them was a week ago and they were doing...
Today after i get off work I will be entering my chickens in the county fair. I am entering a Red Cochin Pullet, Wheaten Old English Cockeral, and a Self Black Polish Pullet. Yesterday I entered alot of items from my garden. So hopefully I will bringing home lots of ribbons!!!
My DH and I added an old shed to our existing chicken coop this weekend. I think my girls appreciated it because when we started working we got our first egg.
On Friday I received my first egg ever from our 18 week Cochin. I have been blessed with an egg every morning since at 10 am. The rest of our girls have been singing the egg song with her so hopefully I will be getting more eggs this week.
Today at lunch I went to check on my 18 week old chickens and to my surprise my old english banty was walking around flapping her butt and I could see her vent, as soon as she saw me she sucked it back in. I was really hoping that she would have laid an egg. Maybe when I get home from work.
