My 3 Polish chickens are now 8 months olds there are the bottom of the pecking order and have never crowed.
I have recenlty discovered that all 3 are developing spurs!!!
I thought for sure they were hens up until now.

Some of my birds have little spur nubs. I guess it is more common in hatchery stock? That bird looks really "boufant-y" to me to be a roo.

How come we never see you on the AZ thread?

Quote:I agree. These look like hens to me. This isn't a great picture but my hen is on the left and the roo is on the right.

"Other FUnnyHat", a cockerel. Tasty and good.

Some of my polish hens have spurs. One hen has one 1/1/2 inch spur.

Thank you for the information I thought only roosters got spurs. Now if they would just start laying...

My hatchery Polish hen has HUGE spurs. They almost look like oddly placed 5th toes. I just happened to notice them yesterday and did a big double take. She's 100% hen with a poofy hat, and she lays eggs...

My hatchery polish hens have spurs too. I think they're all just tomboys!
