I would like to know if any of these symptoms sound familiar or if there's something more I could have done to help my hen. Read on for details and please, please share your opinions and knowledge! I have no idea what happened.

I was hoping someone could offer some good words to make me feel a bit better about this morning's misadventure. Right now I'm feeling like a terrible chicken mom.
Our foster puppy grabbed one of silkies this morning and shook her pretty badly. I was able to separate the two fairly quickly...
We had to cull our 10 month old buff brahma last week. I thought she had a prolapsed vent and was egg bound... but I'm having my doubts because I just found a 2nd hen dead in the yard.
This second one was an 11 month old Amber Star, no previous medical issues. Upon examining her body--- her...
After lots of reading here on the forum, I think my hen has a prolapse (fairly mild) and is egg bound. I've been treating her accordingly. However, there is some white-crumbly accumulation on the lower half of her cloaca that I am concerned about. I don't know if it's dead skin, or urates...

All my hens are about 10 months old and not an egg from them yet.
That's not really the problem, though.
The problem is that my Black Australorp (who is the dominant hen) started ....crowing?!.... this morning.
It's not a real crow. But it's a crow-ish noise.
This is a REAL BIG NONO as...
Has anyone done a mock-up window box out of their pop-out nest box?
I know it HAS to be possible. Just wondering if anyone out there has done it, and if they can post pictures before I try and tackle my own....
I'm hoping to do something like this...
Hey Folks,
I have recently offered to rescue 2 leghorn hens that are being evicted from their city home. I am looking for suggestions as to how to integrate them into my current flock (of 3.5-- one is a feisty bantam) and how to make them comfortable in a space that was previously tailored for...
I am part of the Urban Chicken Underground and live in an area where it is illegal to keep roos. But I'd like some babies next spring/summer.
The thought crossed my mind that I could potentially send my chosen hen on a date with a special roo.
Has anyone else done this?
I'd probably find a...
I got my pullets about two weeks ago-- one Black Australorp, one Amber Sex Link, one Buff Brahma, and one Black Cochin. They've been very happy in their coop, which is adequately large for them, but I'd been wanting to let them free range in our yard....
We are in an urban setting, so I was...
I have 4 hens, each about 4-5 months old. Got them 2 weeks ago and they are my first chickens ever. They have a 4X3 coop that attaches to a 4X8 run, which should be plenty of space, but I'd like to let them wander our backyard when I'm at home.
And here is my question about chicken...
The detachable run is 4'X8' and the coop is 4' X '3, raised 2' off the ground. The space under the coop also adds 3' to the amount of ground space the girls have, technically making the run a length of 11'. There's a hinged door on either end for easy access, as well as a back hatch in the coop...
My 3 month old Australorp, who I just got less than 48 hrs ago, is sneezing, coughing, and blowing beak-bubbles. I've kept her isolated and began giving her (and everyone else) a round of Sulmet. She was doing soooo much better by the end of yesterday that I was convinced that she wasn't sick at...
Hello All! I'm Huck... owner (as of today) of 4 beautiful backyard pullets--- 1 Black Australorp, 1 Black Cochin, 1 Buff Bantam Brahma, and 1 Amber Star. I live in an urban setting just outside of Washington, DC., and am lucky enough to have a nice, shaded, grassy back yard that's just perfect...
