Introducing my new brood! (pic heavy)

I purchased 17 little babies yesterday...here they are! They are all purebreds, but different breeds, lavender and light sussex, welsummer, australorps and wyandottes :) Ignore the silly names, they're all named after people's screen names, save laura who's named after a friend's mother and...

    Whoops....

I am a fairly diligent egg collector, I go in every day, peek about, pick up any eggs I find in the coop etc, because I have a pet rooster (stunning light sussex boy, not quite a year old), and I know helena and helga, my tiny little bantams would hatch a potato if they could (they have actually...

    Two hours til lockdown....

Very excited, even though there's likely only one baby hatching this time, I can't wait to meet the little guy/girl. These eggs are from one of the hens, and the rooster that I hatched about this time last year, dad is a light sussex, mum is an arauacana girl, so little easter egger baby (or...

    Aruacana eggs...candling advice?

I'm on day 7 of a small incubation of 7 aruacana eggs, so I've candled them, but most are a little too dark to see anything other than an air cell, aside from one where I could clearly see spider veins... Should I assume that the 6 where I couldn't see anything are not going to hatch and toss...

    Heat lamp broke...worried chicken parent.

So my heat lamp decided to die in the middle of the night, it is now nearly 6am and the petbarn doesn't open until 8:30....it is summer, but slightly cool outside, the babies are in the house where it is less cool, but I am worried. They don't seem to be making distressed sounds or anything...

Peeping inside the egg...is it possible or am I imagining things.

I am on day 19 of my hatch, and had to add more water to my incubator....while the alarm was going off because i had the lid open, I was sure I heard distinct peeping coming from one of the belgian d'uccle eggs. Is this possible, or am I imagining things. I didn't see any pipping, just heard...

    Soon to be chicken-parent joining....

Hi there everyone. I'm Terris. I've had chickens for years, but recently ordered some eggs and an incubator through the mail, my incubator is about 13 days "pregnant" at the moment and I'm really excited. There is a mixed batch of eggs in there, primarily light sussex, with a few d'uccles...
