Hey there everyone. May be a dumb question but does anyone use water nipples/cups for their chicks? I have 6 Rhode Island girls between 3 days old and a 1 week. Right now they drink from your standard bottle waterer in their brooder but they keep getting pine shavings in it. I guess that's not a...
So this is new for me. One of my AMs stayed hunkered down in the straw when I came in to feed them today. (I free range in an 80 sq foot shed with straw on the ground) When she finally did move she looked like she was hobbling so I pick her up to see if she had anything stuck to her foot. Her...
Any idea what cause a quail to prolapse? I just lost one to this.. poor thing. I misdiagnosed it and now I feel terrible.
It just happened to another one of my girls. I was cleaning some dried dung off her foot and it happened. Once she calmed down it went back in and she's been fine for the...
OK.. I know this might sound crazy but it seems as though my quail are eating more out of my yellow feeder than my two red feeders. Am I just crazy? Could color have something to do with it?
I mean they CLEAN out the yellow plastic feeder and leave about 1/2 in the reds.
Looking for advice. Right now I have my quail on the ground in their pen. Deep litter with straw. I have a 2 gallon stereotypical poultry waterer setup. It sits on a double layer of paving stones to get it up off the straw.

What are you...
I'm hearing conflicting things on fat content. My girls have round the clock access to 24% protein feed and oyster shells. Plus I've been feeding them meal worms (quite a few) every day as treats.
I was doing the meal worm thing for treat/extra protein but now hearing they have too much fat...
Hoping someone can help. I have a tuxedo quail who's been "puffed out" for two days... like she is cold. None of the other 34 quail are doing the same thing. She's also lathargic and not eating. Any suggestions?
They are in a 10 by 8 pen and "free range" on the floor on straw.
I'm new to raising quail but now have a covey of 25! Twelve Texas A&Ms plus Tuxedos and some mixed. SO excited. They ate like pigs a week ago when I got them but now their eating has slowed down. They are between 3-4 weeks (Tuxedos and mixed) and 5-6 weeks (A&Ms). I keep the two groups...
Have been a member here for awhile and reading all I can. Well I'm excited to announce that yesterday we got our firts flock (covey) of 12 A&M quail. 3-5 weeks old!
Hello everyone. My name is Zed and my wife and I are finally about to move out of our HOA to a little place we are buying that is more out in the country. I'm very new to the world of raising chickens but can't wait. I have collected eggs before and was around farms growing up so I'm somewhat...
