    Mama to Meanie.

    My mother hen was wonderful for 5 1/2 weeks then yesterday it was like a light switched off and she is done with her babies. All normal stuff, ... but she is not just nudging them away or gently warning them, she is chasing them, pecking them and harassing them. Has anyone else experienced this...

    I'm sure this has been asked and answered a hundred times but I can't find it, ...I have six chicks the same age (5 weeks) and only one has a red comb. Do they mature at different times, or could I possibly have only one roo?

    Mud baths?

    I knew chickens took dust baths, but I didn't know they took mud baths. Is this common? She was soaked and filthy and it was pretty cold out. She went to bed still kindof wet. Crazy girl.

    Humidity

    I hatching chicks are making the humidity rise in my incubator. It's getting as high as 76. Should I be worried and what could I do about it?

    Please look at photo and help

    I candled tonight (day 7) and all twelve eggs look like this. They have great veins and embryo look good but there looks to be a huge air pocket on one half of each egg. It doesn't move like a liquid. It's stays put. Is it ok or is there anything I can do to rectify it? .

    Too high up?

    So I'm in a quandary; my broody hen has decided to sit on her eggs in the very top nest. I tried to move her (and the eggs) down but she abandon her eggs and moved back up. Now I have her sitting on fertilized eggs, and I'm afraid when the eggs hatch, the chicks will fall as they try to follow...
