My coop is next to a tree and the fireants are in lines up and down the dumb tree leading to my coop. Now they also have made their home in the roof of the coop. Is there anyway to kill them without knowing where the mound is?
So, yesterday while going do to let the chickens out of their coop, I noticed a little Dachshund running up the drive. I caught her and noticed she was bleeding from the mouth and was very elderly. I couldn't just leave her out in the heat so I took her in.
Fast forward to this afternoon. I...
Hello,
Sometimes my bantam BR just does a high pitched whiny scream for no reason. Her beak stays closed and her face turns beet red. She is never in any danger when she does it. Just wondering what it could be...
My silkie hen (keep reading, I know they are broody all the time!) sits in the coop all day laying down. But when I let the flock out, including her, it is like the spell is broken and she goes about her normal chicken business, broodiness gone. When I put them back in the run, she goes straight...
Which do you like better?
Personally, I like Trueblood better. Twilight is just cheesy. I know that Twilight it for younger audiences, while Trueblood, being on HBO, is for more mature audiences.
So, overall:
*Trueblood is better overall
*Bill is hotter than Edward (R Patt is not very...
I hate my birthday.
It is just another reminder that you are getting old and someday you will wake up and be 80 and almost dead. (Whew that was a lot of 'and's!)
If I look back at the year, there is nothing really spectacular that happened to me or that I did.
Post pictures of your battle scars from roo/human combat
I have a silkie roo who has only pecked me once or twice (he is a push over). Nothing major. I want to see what other people go through!
My first attempt at hatching eggs was awful. After forty some eggs, 11 hatched and two died of unknown causes (I guess they were just weak from the start). Today, all of my silkies hatched! There were only five eggs, but I figure that is some kind of accomplishment.
I love them!
Hello!
I have a 1588 Hovabator genesis and I am having issues. It is on toggle 6 and only 97˚ and 60%.
If I move it up to 7, the temp gets into the hundreds.
What do you recommend.
Higher or lower?
My chicks were due to hatch on wednesday, but some didn't. I went to throw the eggs away tonight and one was still alive, scratching and peeping. Should I help?
This was my first time hatching.
I started out with 41 eggs. On day seven, half of those were infertile or died an early death (most were plain not fertile).
Twenty eggs made it to lockdown, eleven hatched. That's not a wonderful rate right there.
Last night, one of the chicks died. Now I...
If any of my silkie eggs hatch.
It is day fourteen and we have been fighting high humidity and low temperatures for about a week. It seems to have stabilized now though.
Any chance they'll make it?
My genius mom decided to open an egg up at the air cell when it is clearly not ready to hatch. It is a pretty good sized hole, bigger than a quarter. I am worried the membrane will get dry. I have heard that you can put plastic over it but it is where the air sac is, and where the chick will...
