I have a few meat chickens I'd like to kill off this afternoon that have been picked on by my ducks, the chickens are missing plenty of feathers and one so bad that I can see dry blood on its tail.
My question may be a stupid one, but would you avoid eating a chicken that has been through this...
Just finished (hopefully) my turkey coop, I do have a few foxes around getting a chicken here and there unfortunately.
I started with one layer of no climb galvanized, added a bird mesh and another layer of no climb to the walls, I have a chain link fence on the ground outside running the...
I will be buiding a Turkey run outside, likely starting today. I would still like the earth to be directly below the run but have it predator proof also.
thinking about laying fencing and letting grass grow up between the links, or digging down a bit, how much?
what are your tips and tricks...
I am getting 20 jumbo whites for meat only, I have an 10x10 enclosed "coop" and plan on starting an outdoor run, fenced with roof today.
Keeping in mind these turkey will only be kept for 5-6 months how big should their outside enclosure be added to the coop?

It's about-3 here in canada, and chickens could have laid up to 12 hours ago. Would it be ok to start thr eggs in an incubator still, should I wait for next weekend and check and collect daily...
I've got just a random mix of chickens and it's time to ditch the bulk of my roosters.
If I cant find anybody who wants them cheap I'm gonna have to kill them, rather than feed a useless bird...
I'd rather not kill senselessly, so wondering if all breeds taste the same, and are as edible as a...
I just brought home 16 day old keets, put them in the utilities room downstairs in the same brooder I had my chicks in.
They are loud! The chickens were ok down there, but these guys may be moving "outside" to the enclosed area where my basement stairs are if they constantly make this noise.
So i have been a member for some time, but when I lived in town it seems the rats enjoyed the eggs and tormenting my chickens a bit too much. Now I'm on 25 acres and decided to come back to the forum and raise some chickens, mostly for eggs, but I won't let the roosters I'm feeding go to waste...
I picked up 7 buff chicks unsexed. My thoughts are that (from left to right) it is roo-hen-roo-hen-roo-hen. And another hen hiding behind. Any thoughts? Sorry for bad pick
yesterday i picked up 5 silkies (such cool birds!) there are two 3 week old, two week old, and one just two days old. when I got them they were all together, but last night I kept the 3 weekers seperate. do you think this is necessary as they may suffocate the younger ones while sleeping? or is...
