I was wondering if anyone has had luck automatically controlling two things:
1. Heated waterer
2. Heat bulbs.
We are in Minnesota so winters can get pretty cold. I don't like the run the heat lamps unless it gets down to about 10-15 degrees but don't want to keep manually plugging or...
Anyone know if this is something to be concerned about? Bumps are raised and oblong, and seem pretty secured to comb. Have not found any picks of spots that look quite like this after some searching.
Late this past summer our oldest hen (welsummer) stopped laying. She was a very consistent layer for 2 years straight and we figured she just was ready for a break. She has not laid any eggs since. Then our other 3 hens (1.5 years) stopped laying as well in September, but they were obviously...

Hey guys, I picked up this little rooster (he is about 4 months old) locally last week. He was raised in a closed coop with 3 other chicks and they never had any health problems. We currently have him quarantined from the rest of our flock.
We went out of town for the weekend and last night the...
Hello,
We are on our second year of backyard-chickening, and sadly lost half of our flock this week due to a crafty fox that snatched up our hens while they were free-ranging. We currently have 3 pullets (4 mo old) and a 1-year old hen left. Our #1 hen was unfortunately one of the casualties...
