Okay so I put two chicks under my broody buff orpington tonight. She kind of clucked but she looked really puffed up 'like a basketball' in the corner of the nest. Whats going on? Is she going to accept them?
Also, if she does how will the chicks get food up there in the nest? (prolly a dumb...
I have a buff orp. thats gone broody. Would it work to just stick a chick under her? Would she then but 'unbroody'? would she take care of the chick? how do you even go about doing that?
My chicks are about 5 weeks now and the older flock still picks on them. My RIR will actually lunge after them, seemingly trying to kill them.
How can I get them to get along? will they ever?
The coop is divided in two right now so they can't get to each other.
The guy at the feed store told me I could feed my free ranging chickens ONLY scratch. In other words, scratch would suffice and they need nothing else.
Agree?
My chickens 'free range' in a 20' x 20' pen. Its attached to their coop so they go out there whenever they want.
