Friends--My work and family has me too busy to attend to my coop as I should, so I'm offering it all up for free to someone LOCAL who can pick it up. I still have a handful of adult female egg layers that should continue to produce for you (I get about an egg per bird per day year-round). I've...
I have a coop with 8 female coturnix that are about 8 weeks old. The Coop is big enough for 10-12 birds, going by the 1 sq foot per bird rule. It has a "downstairs" and ramp leading to an "indoor-upstairs" section and all birds have access to it all.
Would I be able to add 2 - 4 button quail...
As the subject suggests... I have a pen with 8 coturnix quail, all from the same litter, and all about 8 weeks old. The pen exceeds the recommended 1 cu ft per bird--I have room for 10-12 birds according to that physical space requirement.
I purchased these birds from a local breeder at age...
Yesterday my first set of 8 quail produced the first egg! Today, I got home from work and found a second, so one of these girls has started her daily ritual--or maybe I have two layers?
The difference in egg size is remarkable. The first one was tiny! Second was huge--especially long-and...
Hi folks. Newbie here with 8 female quales that I just introduced into my first quail coop (never raised other birds either).
I built a 5 gal bucket feeder using horizontal nipples. So far I have not seen any birds using it. Not sure how often they drink, but I also don't sit out there for...
Newb question for the experts.. I'm picking up my first quail this weekend. The breeder told me that they are fully feathered out and 4 weeks old, so they'll be closer to 5 weeks by the time I get them. They are being kept indoors at 40* temp now (garage?) so I will do the same in my garage.
I...
Any breeders out there with chicks that are about ready to sell??
I prefer to buy from a breeder who's on this forum, but so far I've seen no posts from breeders looking to sell chicks.
I will consider incubating as a last resort, because I'm so new at this whole backyard quail idea. I'm...
OK guys & gals... So I had this nice design in my head for building my first quail coop, and decided to go price out some lumber. I discovered a "re-use-it" shop near my home that is kind of like a Salvation army, but not clothing. People drop off all sorts of old stuff and then this store...
Forgive me if I've missed an important post on this... I'm a newbie and the only search I could find on this subject resulted in a very old 2009 post. I'm hoping to get some updated information from current members.
I live in Saline, MI (Pittsfield Twp) and am wondering if there are any...
Another newbie here... exploring the possibility of raising quail in my back yard for eggs, education, and fun. I look forward to learning from you folks!
