Does this prove that I am truly crazy about chickens?

Hey all. I just wanted to show off my newest rooster. He has no name yet, as I just got him last night. What do you all think? Have I taken this chicken obsession a bit too far? Or do you all want one too now?

I am in the process of attempting to write a book. I have never done this before and funds are very low, as always . I would like to ask the generous folks here at BYC to post pics on this thread that I could use in my book. I will not be able to pay for the use of these pics unless the book...

Look what showed up at my work!!

Someone "rescued" this fledgling Barred owl. They thought that it was injured because it could not fly well . I know that they meant well, but I'm sure that his/her parents are wondering where he/she is. Thankfully, I work close to Lone Elk Park where the World Bird Sanctuary is located. They...

I don't ever want to have to do this again! This is the second hatch that I have had where this has happened. I had 1 little chick who hatched with it's intestines outside of its body! Is there something that I could have done to prevent this from happening? I have had several hatches this year...

    Question about "packing peanuts"

I just received my order from Nature's Hatchery, 5 Phoenix pullets and 15 Silver Laced Cochin pullets. I also received 10 "packing peanuts" with the order. They appear to be buff cochins. My question is: Are these extra chicks probably all male? I really don't know what to do with 10 extra roosters!

    Blue Andalusian/Barred Rock cross?

I have a free range flock that consists of EE's, Barred Rocks, and a Blue Andalusian rooster. (There are also EE and Barred Rock roosters) I hatched some eggs from them on Tues and was surprised to see 2 blue chicks in my incubator. One of them has a pea comb, so I assuming that he/she is an EE...

    My duckling had a seizure!

Yesterday morning I was in my brooder room (yes, I have a whole room just for my babies!). Anyways, I accidently knocked over the lid to the trashcan that I keep the feed in and of course, the noise scared my 5- 1 week old ducklings. One of them fell over, stretched it's legs foward and it's...

    Free Roosters

HELP!!! I'm overrun with roos! I have never shipped birds, so I prefer local pickup only. If you want to pay for shipping, I'm more than happy to try though. These roosters are all about 5-7 months old. They are healthy, but some have been "picked on" by the other roos. No major...
