I hatched 2 chicks. My duck hatched a chick and I had it in the ones I hatched. They are about 3 weeks apart in age.
I was sure the older ones would attack the little one, Peppercorn, so I had her in a box in the brooder. Well it jumped out and the for sure pullet, Her, began to mother...
Our dog stays outside to protect the flock. The flock doesn’t use the coop. They prefer to sleep on the back porch. It’s not lit or covered but both flocks we’ve had choose the porch.
One en lays her eggs in the coop but the others just lay around the yard as they have free roam of the yard...
Meet Peppercorn! We don’t have a broody chicken so I stuck 4 chicken eggs in our Caguya duck’s nest. My dog ate 3 if the eggs but the one that survived has hatched!
Pepper was able to hatch the chicken egg in about 17 days. Peppercorn is alive and well in our chick pen. I didn’t want Pepper to...
I have been incubating 10 eggs. Only 5 hatched. 2 yesterday and 3 today. Sadly only the 1st and 3rd to hatch are still alive. The other 3 had really big stomachs and they died after hatching.
The 1st one to hatch is a lot weaker then the other one. She doesn’t really walk around much. It’s...
We have a caguya duck, Pepper. For the longest time she just laid her eggs anywhere in the yard and left them. She started going missing and would only return for feeding time.
I finally found her. She built a nest and had 11 eggs. Because our drake had been killed by a hawk I knew they...
We have a Cayuga duck, Pepper. She loves to play in mud and dirty. We have a pool for her and she puts dirt in it. Is this normal? Our drake, Salt, never did this.
The guy who was supposed to take my roos never showed and won’t respond.
So, here again.
2 roos need a home. 1 Production RIR and 1 Light Brahma.
RIR: Pidgey, protective, steals dog food from neighbor and jumps on the roof. He will try and fight my 30lb Australian Shepherd. Doesn’t let you...
So, I finally hatched some of our mix breeds eggs. On Christmas Eve they hatched.
So my questions are what the mix is called and what the pullets and cockerels would look like.
1. RIR hen and Light Brahma roo
2. RIR roo and Light Brahma hen
3. RIR roo and Barred Plymouth Rock hen
4. Light...
Yeti has a crook in her neck. She can eat and drink no problem. Likes her neck rubbed.
She can move it like a owl almost. Sometimes it looks like she holding her neck straight but then it goes crooked again.
Main Question is will she die? Or can she live like this?
Here is Yeti. Hatched on Christmas Eve. She/he has a crook in her neck from tilting her head for to long but eats and drinks fine. Doesn’t seem to bother her besides walking in a circle so she can see everything.
I’m hoping hen but wing sex at hatching as rooster.
This is Yeti. Right now she has a crook in her neck from standing with her head tilted for to long but she can eat and drink.
My guess is hen but I did wing sex at hatching and it was rooster.
Any for sure predictions out their? Couldn’t figure out how to upload the video.
ETD: hatched on...
Our chickens our almost a year old; in April and May.
As none of the hens were broody I hatched the eggs in an incubator. 3 our of 5 hatched. Once they were big enough I put them in the coop. The chickens never use the coop but it’s right next to where we feed them so I thought if they ate by...
My duck has started to lay eggs! Yay!
Downside is she doesn’t lay in the same place. None of our flock use the coop. They sleep on the porch and lay in certain areas of the backyard. And move their nest when the dog finds and steals their eggs.
Is there a way to help her lay in one spot...
I crochet and cross stitch. Dolls, blankets, hats, etc.
Everything crocheted is made with 100% cotton yarn. I used to have an Etsy shop but couldn’t afford the fees they charge.
My website and Instagram have more of my items.

1 is a Rhode Island Red rooster, Pidgey. He is aggressive towards other chickens but it could be because he’s high on the pecking order.
1 is a Light Brahma, Big Waddles. He is sweet and let you hold him.
Can get pictures of them both tomorrow. We are needing to rehome as soon as possible...
I had a clothing company contact me on Instagram to have my daughter and I model their clothes as an affiliate. Super cool!
Had never heard of them before but cute clothes so I agreed. Only downside is my daughter can’t wear the clothes yet.
She’s 21 months but just now got into 6-9m size...
