Hey everyone, I have this pullet who has a bad beak since birth and was just wondering if I could cut it any certain way before she grows up to make it easier for her to use her beak to forage and peck at grass as currently she needs deep layer of pellets to reach any food. I’ve attached photos...
For the past two days I have a young hen I got not too long ago for laying so she just made laying age. Lately she has been unable to walk on one foot leaving her unbalanced and just a bit tired. Strangely though she also closes her right eye all the time the left is usually open. She still eats...
I found my chicken today with a very soiled/pooey bottom today and when I took a closer look I saw so many worms just wriggling about on her butt. Immediately I dusted pestine and some fell off then I gently brushed off the worm and soaked her bottom in some insect poison which I used to use for...
I have a mixed breed chicken that is roughly 7 years old now and seem to have the bottom of her ear lob swollen when I felt it it was hard but it looked sort of like a teardrop shape so only the bottom was swollen. I noticed it today and will post an image in the morning. In case it is relevant...
my chicken has had a respiratory infection a few weeks ago and It hasn't completely recovered I suspect as she opens her beak less now however when she eats and in the morning she starts violently coughing until she turns blue and cannot stand properly. I have felt a hard lumpy bump above her...
I have noticed that my chicken's eye is half-closed so I kept looking and saw that her eyelid looked flat or swollen and the eye was teary. I will attach a photo below. She is acting and behaving normally, over here it is warm weather and I've just begun to put electrolytes in their water on hot...
sorry if this is the wrong forum but I have bought a no crow rooster collar and just have a few questions before I put it on
- should I permanently switch their food from pellets to crumble? Since I don’t have any when I put it on could I just soak the pellets in hot water for him if this is a...
Apologies if this is the wrong forum section but i would like to give a 6 month rooster to a good home as i am not able to keep him. I live in Sydney Australia just to clear that up and it's a cross breed though i do not know which, if you want images please just reply and request. It's not 100...
I know this sort of leeks into two categories but i have a rooster that crows wy too much like every minute especially in early mornings and we tried this thing where we had put him in the shed for the night in a cge, felt really bad about this but this was my final option but i don't want to do...
i have this old rooster around 4 years but he’s still strong and sassy, so recently he jumped over the fence into where a younger rooster was who was constantly singing and displaying dominance and a quiet young rooster just starting to sing and mount hens but he ignored the quiet one and the...
its been nearly 6 mounths since 4 chicks hatched, one of them started laying and there is a rooster who looks really mature but there are two hens who are not nearly big enough for their age and the one who’s laying is a bit larger than the other hen but her eggs are really small. But the other...
One of my chickens is behaving normally however it has a wierd problem with the eye, one eye is completely fine but the other is sort of half closed and I was wondering why
I will attach an image of her different eye
I have had a chicken who hatched three chicks answer they are grown now, I’ve always thought they were Swedish flower hens however I’m beginning to doubt this. There were two potential fathers - a shiny black/brown with a pea comb and the classic orange and white rooster. I’ll attach photos...
I have a mature chicken who finished her worming treatment since she had worms but now I notice she is lying down constantly and can’t excrete poop or anything but you can she poop stick on her feathers and some inside. I had a chicken that died like this so I’m stressing and don’t knkw what to...
I have two chickens and they have four eggs each, this is the evening of the second day of the hatching process and a egg has a small crack in it along with one hatched chick in one of the nests, the egg has been like that for 2 and 1/2 hours, should I worry/intervene? Or should I let the mother...
hey I was looking and didn’t find a thread to help so I decided to post my own, I have three chickens in total and two have gone broody. Now the remaining chicken is so bored and I don’t know how to help!
Any ideas?
My chicken is mooting at the moment but she lost her first spur a while ago and now I see she is losing her second, though you see dried blood around it and if you touch it she moves since it hurts but she is also really sensitive about that leg so I don’t know what’s wrong and she is really...
so this chicken is top chicken and does not peck to harm but to get your attention and most of the time she just wants to be held but even when I hold her she pecks a bit longer and then stops and I’m never sure why, would anyone else know?
Also I would like to know what breed she could be...
this will make more sense if you understand that my chickens foot has 5 toes (three at front and two on side) but one is basically a long claw, I tryed searching but nothing came up! The claw toe completely fell off and I don’t know if I should be worrying and why did this even happen?
So this chicken was always calm - she even came up to me and pecked me until I picked her up! Now she is running away when your 4 metres away, it began when she was distant and I wasn't worried then I realised she was incredibly skittish. Anyone know how to calm her?
