It’s a pretty pattern and I am just curious as to what it is called. She is 3rd generation Silkie x Millie Fleur . Her chicks that she just hatched is the 4th.
My first rooster just died this morning. He was two years old and for the past month or so he hasn’t been able to crow. I thought it was odd but he seemed to be healthy. When went to feed him this morning he ate some and then staggered around. He tried with his whole body to crow but and then...
I need to get better pictures but I’m really pleased how my Orpingtons came out. I ended up out of my 6 with 3boys and 3 girls. I kept 3girls and a boy .
Here is the boy . The cage in the background is a growout pen for my silkie crosses.
I checked on momma hen sitting on her eggs and one of her eggs were half hatched. The baby was shrinked wrapped and so I helped it out, then stuck it in the incubator in a bowl because it’s insides were almost closed but not all the way.
Checking on it later showed that he still has a...
We are going on 8 weeks now. I’m pretty sure with all my others which who is what but this one has me stumped. It’s the smallest of all my orpingtons . It has a comb and it’s red but it’s not as big as my other boys . All my Orpingtons have pink in their combs even the girls but their combs are...
So the Dad has a blue silkie sire and dam a Mille Fleur Duccle. Mom’s are either white silkie or splash silkie.
Here is the sire.
So did these patterns come from the Dad and what is it called?
My Easter Egg chicks are 4 1/2 weeks old. They are all silkie duccle crosses. Dad is a Silkie x Duccle and moms are silkies.
#1 I’m pretty sure this is a cockerel.
#2 I think Pullet
#3 I think pullet
#4 I’m not for sure on this one ..maybe pullet. It’s neck is going to be gold.
#5...
This one is getting a red comb but it’s much smaller than the other two boys. Is it still a boy?
Bantam Orpington 7 weeks.
The smaller one below (on the right) is the one I’m not sure about .
My favorite is still looking like a pullet I think. (Below)
This one below has red like a...
I’m not sure if it’s just because it’s feathers are still growing out that they kind of stick up or is it a frizzle? Almost all the bantam Orpingtons are growing like this (I have 6) . They are almost 6 weeks.
The second picture the wind was blowing a little so the feathers were sticking up...
Here are my pictures from today and they are officially all 4 weeks. It’s early I know to guess the sex. I posted a few earlier this week but not all of them and these pictures have better lighting so feel free to guess . These are bantam Orpingtons and one silkie.
I think orp 1, 2 and maybe 4...
Here are my pictures from today and they are officially all 4 weeks. I know it’s early and I did posted a few earlier this week but these outdoor pictures has better lighting . Feel free to guess .
I’m guessing 1,2, and 4 are males. Orp1 is the slowest growing feathers and maybe has the frayed...
My 6 Orpington bantams will be 4weeks this weekend and was wondering when can you tell pullets from cockrels? Seems like the pictures that I have seen both get red combs early on? What about waddles? I think I have two that I can start seeing the development of pink waddles and slightly pink...
Scraggly?
This one didn’t feather out like the rest . I’m going to up their protein but why is this little ones feathers looking so bad?
I thought the delayed feather growth (it’s almost caught up with the others) was because this one is a boy but it wasn’t just delayed .. it looks like...
This egg has been in the incubator for 2 days. The red arrow is pointing to the growth and the blue is pointing to something else. Is that just the yolk? I don’t remember my others looking like that.
I have one that is way behind on feather growth (the one in the back) . It wasn’t the last born and it didn’t have a difficult hatch.
Does feather growth indicate if they are male/female?
They are bantam Orpingtons born March30/31.
I had to assist a chick out of the shell yesterday. It was positioned wrong with a foot up around and behind its neck. It really should have stayed in its shell longer to absorb the veins but it didn’t pip (couldn’t) and it was cheeping. So I opened it up? It was facing the wrong direction...
Well my silkie is different (it’s being a pest so it’s getting time out in the container.. it hardly quits poking at the others) but that’s not what I’m posting about.
Yup the one in the corner prefers to sleep standing up. I also don’t think it’s a bantam that it’s supposed to be ...such...
I stopped seeing embryo on this first one for the last two days. It should be 7 days. It’s a brown egg but I had no problem seeing it when it was on day two and it’s supposed to be easier to see on day 7.
Still alive though in there?
This second one I also couldn’t see the embryo. This...
