Heat for the winter???
Does anyone add heat of any kind during the winter months, I'm in the northeast and our winters get ugly, I plan on covering the coop with the exception of the doors so they get fresh air, they have a box that is connected to the coop that they go in and was wondering if a ceramic heater or some... -
Hatching eggs
Im on day 16, I stopped the turner added water for extra humidity the eggs are moving every now and then, what should I see next? I assume little holes in the eggs?? I’m new if you haven’t figured it out yet! Thanks -
self watering system
what type of container do you use to hold the water? I would think a five gallon bucket with a lid would be best , just not sure ill get a water tight connection to the bucket because its concave and the bulk head fitting is flat. I would like to know what yall are using, thank you so much, this... -

I Just built a nice big pen only to find out the something climbed up during the night and ate the legs off of four of my quail from the bottom, i used half inch galvanized hardware cloth!! HELP I was going to wrap the bottom with lattice making the front removable to clean, any thoughts please? -
New Coop done....almost!
Still need to do the water cup system, trying to decide where to put the container, what to use for the container and want to set something up that hold a weeks worth of food, any and all recommendations are much appreciated!!!!! -

Has anyone noticed a decrease in viability from buying eggs through the mail? I've heard that sometimes the extreme movements in the delivery system may drop the percentage of success. I would appreciate any info, positive or negative. If you had a positive experience please leave a link to... -
JUMBO VS. regular
Can anyone post a side by side difference between the two? I'm considering a new coop to house jumbos but don't know if its worth it. egg size would help too! Can jumbo and regular be bred to make a "medium"? Thanks for any and all info!! -
perch in coop
Does anyone have tree branches in their coops that are set up so the birds can perch? If you do have them do you ever find the birds using it, I realize they are ground dwelling birds but have seen it. any thoughts? -
roosters are quiet???
I have tree roos and twelve hen, I've noticed lately that the roos aren't vocalizing as much as before. Any concerns or something I should be doing differently? Or should I be happy and assume they are content? Thanks in advance for the help! -
