I came in this morning to mid day 19 to find that in the middle of the night a chick had hatched in one of our classrooms. I have never had one hatch this early and it has a bright red sac come from its hind end. The underside of it looks yellowish but am concerned that it could be more than...
I am looking for a variety of eggs to hatch with several second grade classrooms. I would really like to not have to ship eggs as we seem to have better results when I pick them up. If you are local and have fertilized eggs that I can purchase, please let me know.
Thanks,
Stephanie
I am a classroom teacher who hatches with her class every year. My kids often think all eggs are white and all chicks are yellow so I try to get a variety of different eggs to teach them about diversity. The person I have bought eggs from the last 3 years is no longer on this board so here is...
We had a little chick that got kicked around a lot during hatching and got stuck in his shell. I slowly helped him out and he was covered in the super glue stuff. Today I took him out of the incubator to try and get more of the stuff off him before moving him in with his brothers and sisters...
So I have an incubator full of eggs in my classroom. Most of the little sneaky guys decided to hatch over night so now I have like 14 little chicks running around. Great- except I have a few still trying to hatch. They are getting kicked around, sat on, and pecked. I am most concerned about...
I am a classroom teacher hatching with my class of second graders. Today is day 20 but we came in to find one bantam completely hatched 2 more sipped and a white leghorn pipped.
Here is my concern- One bantam hatched with no problems but his bottom is still in the smaller end of the shell...
So today while candling for my class one of my bantam eggs took a bump and the large end of the egg has a pink size depression and cracks. The embryo is still moving. Should I seal it with candle wax and hope for the best? Do you think it could survive? I know it was early in the process...

I am a classroom teacher and have been hatching for 6 years. Today my teammate and I went in to clean out the incubators to find a chick peeping! The eggs had finished hatching by Wed. and we didn't hear this little one over the cheeps of all the others. I very slowly and carefully freed him...

I am a teacher and our eggs started hatching yesterday. Well early this morning before I came to school one must of hatched and there is blood all over the left corner on the incubator. The little chick looks exhausted and is laying down. I can not tell what if anything is wrong and I have...
I am a teacher and we are hatching in egg cartons this year to prevent the soccer game that happens once a few chicks hatch. Will the eggs still rock around in the egg carton? The kids always think that is so funny to see the egg rock back and forth.
Thx!
I am a classroom teacher and each year we incubate eggs as part of our life cycle unit. I place the eggs in the incubator yesterday at 4 and everything is going great.
The one catch is I have a shipment of bantam eggs that we thought would arrive on Monday but as of last night they were still...
I am a teacher and every year we hatch eggs. The project has grown to many different breeds of chickens and we have had really great success. The one thing that bothers me and the kids every year is when they start hatching the first few chicks get rowdy and cause the other ones to roll...
I am hatching eggs in my classroom and I thought everything was going great. We have had 4 hatch, and several pip. Some of the pip areas look like they are getting dry. Almost like tissue paper. The humidity is 78% and I have not opened the incubator. The chicks that have hatched are nice...
I am looking to purchase some bantam eggs to add to our incubator. We will be setting eggs on Tuesday the 5th so I can pay through paypal to speed up the process. I would like a few English Bantams and then any other type people have.
Thanks!
I had several eggs hatch over night and one of them is just lying on its side/back and is not getting up. He is breathing, but the other chicks keep pecking it. What can I do? This is a class incubation project.
Thanks
I have 26 eggs in the bator right now that was suppose to hatch tomorrow, but I cam to school today and found two of my bantams have hatched. They are pecking each other and really going to town on one egg that has made a large hole. There is some blood but I can see the chick poking its beak...
My eggs are at least a day behind on developing so I tried to raise the temperature in my incubator. What should it be at for a forced air incubator? Do other people get a wide variety of temps. in different areas of the bator? Thanks for your help.
I set 31 eggs in our hovabator on Tuesday and things seem to be going well. The temp is staying right around 100 and the humidity is around 40%. On Friday we saw some veins, but today I came in from the weekend and candled one in hopes we could see the embryo that moved to it's left side and...
