She keeps pulling feathers of the other hens. I can't seem to cure her. She's been to chicken jail twice now, with no success.
If anyone wants her, I live near Pittsburgh, Pa.
She was born in March. Lays daily.
I'm not sure I posted this in the right area, but it's not a for sale, she's free.
Dang it. Our hen got her head stuck in the run fence, and another chicken started to eat her alive.
She's been healing in a cage in our basement, and it all scabbed over and mostly healed. I sprayed her with blukote, and took her to the run for SUPERVISED visitation with the flock, as she's...
I have an Amber Link that's been a "punk" since she was a little chick. She's used to just "hog" food and chase the others away. Now, she's started pulling the feathers out of the other hen's butts. She has enough protein, different food/water areas, and branches and toys. I sprayed all the...
My 6 year old came running in the house in hysterics.
Peanut (his favorite hen) had her head stuck in the run fence, and the other chickens were pecking her, badly:hit
I got the other hens off of her and got her unstuck. She has a LARGE (1/2 dollar or more) size circular HOLE on her backside...
A lot of people in my town have chickens too, and I was told it is ok, but I wanted to look it up and print to see for myself.
I am confused by the laws, can someone please point me in the right direction?
Here are my local codes:

I've tried straw, hay and wood chips, they kick and scratch it all out of the fence. Is it worth building a "lip" around the bottom of the fence, or just leave the run bare earth?
One of our hens is getting her feathers plucked out, on her back, near her tail.
SHe's also been "nesting" and laying down (not sick or hurt though)
We do have a rooster (who was supposed to be a hen) that is maturing. Is it most likely him?
I watch them and don't see any of it happening...
They are 6-8 weeks old, they have a coop and an enclosure. I let them out this morning, and then pout them back in the coop when it started to rain, but they weren't happy. Are they OK to let outside if its raining? As long as they can get back in if they want? As long as its warm out, or...
I have a double decker coop- its just over 4X4, and has 2 floors, so would I consider it 4 X 4= 16 DOUBLED to 32 square feet because there is an upper and lower area with roosts?
It is inside a 100 square foot run. (nest boxes are built out and take up no space) would this allow for 8?
How...
Before:
We bought a coop off Craigslist, it was never used, but about 2 years old
My hubby building the nestbox. We had already built a dog kennel around it and got netting for the top.
All done!
We closed the bottom in, and put linoleum on the bottom (once I get the hanging feeder and...
My one EE poops this this ALL THE TIME. Its not just every once in awhile, it is consistent. She's about 8-9 weeks old, and seems very healthy- eating, drinking, growing well.
(the runny brown next to another chicken's normal poo)
I bought these all as pullets, so I hope they really are, so I'd like some reassurance please

Here is the progress:
That's my hubby working on the nesting box.
(we bought this used)
Plans:
put linoleum on the floor of the coop (wood shavings on top of that)
enclose the entire bottom (lower level) of the coop
For the top doors, cover with plexi glass for most of the doors, then leave...
Gah! My husband is a GREAT guy but wow. We bought a good used (not used but intended to be used) coop. We needed to modify it. I've been doing research, sending him pictures, links, design ideas, and he obviously has not listened to or read a single thing. He's had to tear apart and start...
I have 6 chicks in an XL rubbermaid tote brooder. They are growing SO fast! They are only 4 weeks old. Can I keep them in there till fully feathered, or start finding an alternative? The coop is almost ready, with electric, should I move them outside, with the heat lamp?
I want to add in another roost to this coop:
I am afraid there might not be enough head room?
Also, should I put linoleum on the bottom board and scape the poo down into the lower wood shavings? Or is there a better way?
I hope to incorporate the chickens into lesson plans:
Science, and maybe business: when the hens are old enough to lay, the kids can do some simply calculations such as cost of raising chickens vs. buying eggs, etc.
history of domesticating birds, etc.
Does anyone else do this?
