so I was checking my chickens this morning and when I’m about too leave I notice my hen has something hanging out of her back area, I don’t know if it’s poop or what but here it is, so do I put her down?
so I’ve jist had around 4 chicks hatch, and I have two hens brooding rigjt now. And they are in the boxes right next too each other. The other hen doesn’t have any chics hatched yet... and one of the chicks got into her nest and I can’t get her, will she be fine?
I have noticed for the past 2 days one of my hens has been doing a weird noise. And when she does it, it looks like she moves her head while she is coughing, I don’t know what this is.
finally one of my hens is broody! She was sitting on only like 1-3 eggs though so I slid around 8 more under her. They were all out there in the best box for around 3-7 days. Will they still hatch?
I made a post about how I added 3 new hens to my flock if three a few days ago. It seems like one of the original hens is still chasing them around and literally biting there feathers. But today when watching them, one of the hens fought back when being pecked at but lost and got her feather...
so I have had three new hens added to my flock for around 4 days now. One of the hens who was originally here keeps chasing around and biting this one hen in particular. And the same hen who is being bullied eats eggs I think. Not the ones in the nest box (unless she hasn’t discovered them yet)...
I just added three hens of the same breed to my old flock yesterday. One of the hens who was originally in the coop keeps pecking and chasing around the other 3 new ones I just bought, why?
So I have just added another three hens to my flock today for a total or 1 rooster and 5 hens. I’m hoping that they will go broody and hatch some babies out. Is there anyway I can help encourage this behavior cause I’ve had chickens for only around a year and this i have yellow. There all around...
so my oldest hen ( 2 years old I think) I found her laying on the ground in the coop today whenever I went to check on the chickens, there were no physical injuries and so I just sat her in her nest box. She had recently stopped laying and was becoming less active as well. Is she just dying...
I was headed down to feed my chickens meal worms and when I picked up the bag I’d been keeping in the coop, mealworms started falling in the ground. The chickens ate the mealworms that fell and when I looked there were to holes in the bottom. What is this?
so today I was going down to feed my yellow buffs some meal worms and when I noticed mrs priss ( my oldest hen) she opened her mouth to eat and a liquid like substance cane out of her mouth. It was clear when it came out but do I need to treats her for anything?
i have some yellow buff Orpingtons that I noticed today were panting and had their wings down. I’m keeping theirs water and feed clean and refilled. What’s the problam? Enough ventilation?
i have 4 yellow buff Orpingtons, two pullets one cockerel and one hen. Bought them all from the same place. But I noticed the older hen is basically bullying young ones. They will be eating and she comes and pecks them away. Then tonight, I tried to put her on the roost with the rest of them but...
So about a week ago I bought a flock of yellow buff Orpingtons, two pullets and one cockerel, then a 1.5 year old hen. The hen was born at the same place as the pullets and roo but were not raised together. So I’ve noticed that the hen will keep pecking at the younger ones from time to time. And...
so my flock of yellow buff Orpingtons (2 pullets and one Young roo along with hen) have been getting spoiled with treats like mealworms, bird seed, and these peanut butter balls made for birds. But when I went in their coop I saw some poo thst looked like diarrhea! Is it because of what I’m...
so today my oldest hen mrs priss ( bought her two days ago. Has her nest made and laid an egg today. Well I placed three other Dominique eggs in her nest ( 4 eggs in total) and I come back later and she is setting on them! I know she wouldn’t just be sleeping in her nest cause she’s the dominant...
