    Strange lump on comb

I looked closer at one of my hens and she seems to have a lump on her comb. Anyone know what this is? Thanks

Turkey mating by himself & turkeys vs chickens

So very odd question, but turns out one of my two female turkeys is actually a male. He’s just started gobbling & puffing out his feathers today. Earlier I caught him essentially mating the air, just stood by himself doing the whole business. Anyone elses do this? Also, what’re peoples...

    Which turkeys are pets?

Looking to get a few turkey hens to keep my now lone rooster company. When doing research on turkey breeds, I’m finding it difficult to know which are just meat breeds. I want turkeys that are pets, not meat birds, and I know a lot of turkeys are bred to be meat birds so i want to know if there...

    Mite removal?

Unfortunately I’ve discovered my chickens have mites. I have cleaned their entire house and blasted it with a mite kill spray, obviously I’ll do this several times. I was wondering how to get the mites off them, like is there a spray? I have seen mites on the actual chickens and not just on the...

    Mystery illness in hen

One of my hens I’ve had for at least 6 months now is displaying signs of illness. She isn’t standing up correctly, almost crouching and keeps her head low to the ground as well. I offered her some food and she ate it like she hadn’t eaten in awhile also her crop was empty. She is walking around...

    Rooster being strange

So my top rooster, the most dominant one is acting weird today. He looks different, is in a different stance and isn’t putting the other younger rooster in his place. Is there something wrong? Usually his neck is out and his head is high

    Cockatiel questions

I may get a cockatiel or two, are the better in pairs or by themselves? I’d like the bird to be quite friendly with me, but when I’m away (max 8 hours a day) I don’t want it to get bored. With it be better to get two? Or maybe get one and another species? Cage wise, would two of these back to...

    Cockatiels?

What’s the most essential information about getting a cockatiel? Doing research before considering buying one or two. Do they need companions, is it better to get them in pairs? What kind of weather conditions do they survive in? (I’m in the UK and wondering if they could live outside) In my...

    Quail bedtime

So I’ve had these quail for a few days now, and am getting some hardware cloth very soon so that’s not an issue. But i was wondering how people with aviarys get their quail to get inside. I’ve just been picking them up and putting them inside when it gets dark. Also I don’t know if they...

    Chickens & new quail

So I know chickens and quail can’t go in the same enclosure, so the chicken field is about 10m from the quail aviary. The thing i was wondering is if wearing the same shoes in both habitats could make the quail ill, or if I’m just being paranoid. I only just got the quail today, so any advice...

    Odd rooster

So i have two cockerels, both around 11 months old. One is normal, but the other, a Marans is a bit weird. He is about an inch taller, and quite a lot wider than the other cockerel, yet he is the less dominant. One thing he does a lot is the ‘dance’. I know that’s normal as my other cockerel...

    Very strange chicken

So I’ve made a post about this before i think, but got no answers or suggestions to why she is this way. I have a hen which i got about a month ago, and she’s just quite weird. I got her with 3 other hens, which are all fine. They settled in well, but this hen doesn’t really like to stand near...

    Sanitisation

So i had a chicken which mysteriously died. I don’t know what was wrong with her, but i gave her her own food and waterer. I need these again now, so does anyone know how to properly sanitise them so it’s safe for more chickens to use them? Thanks

    Strange hen behaviour

So my new hens have been settling in very well, apart from one. She looks a bit weird, goes to bed earlier than the others and wont hang around with my ‘old’ flock. I think she may be old, (I don’t know how old she is) as I’ve been observing her for about a month and she doesn’t look ill, just...

    Egg bound or coccidiosis?

Second thread I’ve made, with all the symptoms: 8 month old silkie cross hen, never laid an egg Yellow, almost white diahrea (but no other poo) Sat down, not really moving Head tucked in, won’t eat Usually is loud, making no sound Her vent is pulsating

    Not moving

So my tiny little silkie cross was not moving today. She’s had a long history of being ill so I thought it’s just a matter of time. She was sat down on the floor and i picked her up and she didn’t move at all. She’s not interested in food or water. I’m expecting the worse.

    Eggs?!

So i just got 4 new hens, all i think are around 6 months. They don’t really understand the nest box, even though i put a fake egg in. There is so much poo in the boxes, even though I just cleaned them out. Is there a way to stop this? Also, one laid an egg today, is there a way to find out...

    New additions

So i had 2 roosters and 3 hens so I brought 4 more hens in. I’ve quarantined the new hens for over a month, and they’re been able to look but not touch for a while too. They have a 10x10m enclosure, and I’ve put 3 sets of food and water around, just in case they need it. One rooster goes up to...
