    Do hens sometimes gobble?

Yesterday, I purchased 5 young (4-5) month old turkeys. 3 Narrangansett and 2 bronze to put with my 3 Royal Palms (2 male and 1 female). I am looking forward to seeing what I get from these birds. However about 15 minutes after I put these 5 "hens" in a pen, one of them began to gobble. I have...

    Royal Palms

I have heard that Royal Palms start off completely white, if so when do they start to get the black markings on them. And how do you tell the jakes from the young hens. I am thinking about getting a few, but don"t want to wind up with a bunch of jakes and no hens or vice versa.

    Brooder material

What kind of material do you put in for your baby quail to walk around on. I was told that pine shavings were bad and would kill the baby quail, is this true. I will be have some hatch in a couple weeks and want to make sure they are safe.

    Incubator holding steady

I have my small still air incubator up and going again for another try. This time I moved it to another area of the house that has less humidity and a more stable temperature. It has been holding very steady at about 101 degrees with a humidity from 35-45%. Does this sound like a workable...

    Here is my new coop

I used 7 foot chain link fencing (was given to me), and an old playhouse I had built for my kids years ago and converted this into my new pen for my chickens. The kids picked out the color and even helped paint.

Need help with my turkey hen

My bourban red hen turkey has a swelled area on both sides of her head, just in front of the eyes and behind her nostrils. I am afraid it may be eye worms, or maybe sinus problems. This is a two year old hen and I have never had any health problems with these birds before. Any ideas or...

All my turkey eggs are gone!!!

My bourban hen was setting on 15 eggs and a few days ago I checked on her and she only had 9 eggs. Then yesterday those 9 eggs were gone. No shells or anything. I don't believe she ate them, but don't know for sure what would have gotten that many eggs, unless the crows are back at it again...

Just went into lockdown last night

The temp has been stable at 99-100 (this is about half an inch lower that the top of the eggs), with the humidity steady at 75%. I am a little worried the temp is too low and the humidity a little high. These are turkey eggs. What do you think.
