We have 6 hens the run. The pecking order is in full swing and I believe that one of our chickens are on the bottom. She doesn’t eat much because of this, and she is do thin it is starting to scare me. She is also losing a lot of feathers. I know that they are not molting though. I am not sure...
I woke up this morning to 3 inches of snow and thought, “how would the chickens react to this”. I let them out this morning and they were very hesitant about the snow.
I want to see all of your chickens, snow, and chickens in snow!!!
(Following the BYC rules!)
There is a stray cat wondering around our street lately and he or she comes into our yard sometimes and then I chase it away. Should I be more careful about it or do something else? I am afraid that the cat will get into the coop or run when I am not there.
Any advice is appreciated!!!
Thanks...
Our one chicken has been sitting in the nest box for 9 hours now and she has not been moving. I saw he move once and that was like a blink of an eye. I just don’t know what to do. I have never seen any of my chickens do this. I don’t know if anything might be wrong without her?
Thanks in...
Our chicken well did a discussing poop right now in her run. When she did poop it out I herd it:sick go plllhh. It is really runny and a little foamy in some parts the brown part of the poop is runny as well. I don’t really know how it happened or what caused it, so if you have any information...
We have seen all 6 of our black australorps in the nest box but only gotten 5 eggs a day.... I was wondering what others think because family say that I only have 5 hens.
Our chickens are going through the pecking order and their combs have been bleeding from others pecking at them. Is there anything I can get to make sure that their combs heal faster and/or something that can make sure the comb doesn’t get infected?
Our one chicken is laying these squishy eggs, it looks like they are half formed. Is there some feed that I can get that will give them that will help with the soft egg?
I think that our chickens are starting the pecking order. When I usually play with my chickens they seem normal and look fine. But the past week or so there combs have been bleeding. Also after they free range they last one into the pen gets pecked at and stood up to from the others. Is there...
When our chickens are free ranging, they will go into the coop to lay an egg. But when the finished laying they don’t know where their friends are, so they start to panic. Earlier today I heard one of our chickens squawking so loudly I thought that something was wrong. Does this normally to you...
I have heard in the past from other sites that different egg colors means different chickens. It said that a chicken will lay only one shade of brown. (Personally I do not think this is true. But if it is that would be great). If this is true it would mean that almost all of our chickens are...
WE GOT OUR FIRST EGG!!!!! I was just on BYC and I went outside to but our decoy eggs in and I saw the very first egg perfectly in the egg box and started to freak out and scream because they are definitely old enough to lay and I am SOOO HAPPY :jumpy:yesss::D
So I was wondering what any of your favorite chicken breeds are because I am researching different kinds of chickens that I may raise in the future and I would love to know what kind of chickens are some of your favorites.:D:jumpy:pop
I have asked others before on when our chickens will start to lay on BYC, but all of the answers differ. I would really appreciate it if anyone has black australorps I would like to know around the time that you got eggs.
Thanks in advance:D
Our chickens are not eating. We have tried to give them food but they do not eat it! We have switched them to layer and they have eaten it fine the last week or two and now the won’t eat. They will eat cherry's and scraps but not their food which provides the most nutrients for them. And they...
Our chickens have been very good but until a couple of days ago they have completely stopped eating their food. We went to layer a week ago and they ate it fine and now they won’t eat. In their run is always old food that they never eat. I do not want them to starve themselves.
Our chickens are approaching the 18 week old age and we have not gotten any eggs yet! Even though we are pretty sure that 3 out of 6 of our chickens are rosters we know that we have at least 2-3 are hens. I do not know if there is anything that I can do to start them laying soon? We do have them...
