    Is this bloody poop?

Found one of my leghorn chick (5weeks old or so) dead in the brooding pen, in my garage. I thought she had broken her neck, because she was laying on her side and when I touched her, her neck feathers ruffled and she flopped around for a second and then died. I found what appeared to be pure...

    Leghorn chick with broken neck?

I just walked into the garage, where I have chicks of different ages in a brooding pen. I see one of my white leghorns chicks (about 5 weeks old) laying on one side with her eyes closed. I figured she was asleep, and I touched her foot. She flopped around for a few seconds and then passed. I...

Is this a Golden Sebright or not even close?

I was just told by a member of the Sebright page, on Facebook, that these guys are not even 10% Sebright. Any ideas what they would be then? I was told they were hatchery quality when I got them.

    OEG bantam pullet crowing???

I have seven bantams that are between 10-11 weeks old. I am positive four are cockerels. This morning, as the boys began their pitiful attempts at crowing, this little one made a couple of crowing sounds. For the love of all things holy, please tell me she is actually a SHE!

When I got these little guys, I thought they were Sebright chicks. They have a little green and purple sheen to their back feathers. Any idea what I’ve got? Sebright crosses maybe?

Bantam chick trying to crow at roughly 6 weeks??

I just put my 10 chicks (7 bantams and 3 regular) outside in their make shift playpen. One of the bantam chicks, that I know is a cockerel, started trying to crow! It sounded like he was being strangled, but still... They are around 6 to 7 weeks old. Is this normal?

    Unknown Bantam chick cockerel?

I bought 7 Bantams a few weeks ago, at TSC. I know four are Gold Laced Sebrights. I have three of these little ones, and I’m sure two are cockerels. Any idea on breed and gender? They are around 5 weeks old. The picks are of the same chick, but another one is just a little bigger than this...

TSC straight run Bantams and Amerucana?

I purchased several chicks from TSC yesterday. Seven straight run Bantams, one White Leghorn, and two Amerucanas. Someone already identified the little Bantams with chipmunk stripes as possible OEG Bantams, but does anyone have a good guess at the others? They have orange on their faces...

    Comb injury

I noticed one of my Cinnamon Queen pullets has an injury to her comb. It looks like it’s been torn from the back, but doesn’t seem to bother her. She is acting completely normal. These are the best pics I could get. I grabbed her today, because she is a miss touch me not, and my wife put...

    Confused over feed

I have seven chicks that are between 7 and 8 weeks old. When should I switch from starter feed to grower feed? They have been in the coop and in their run for around four weeks now, if that matters. I tossed the tag that was on the bag, but I’ve seen people say they should be switched around...

Question about cleaning bedding in the coop

I’ve searched the forums, and haven’t really found an answer to this. I have Pine shavings in my coop, but what can I use to get the poop out of the shavings? I tried making a make shift sifter from chicken wire, but the poop and shavings both fall through. If I make the holes any smaller...
