I'm not new but I had to re-register because my email changed and I couldn't get into my account.
Anyway, I have a few Serama bantams and last night something got in and killed and partially ate my 2 sweet Serama girls. I only have 2 hens and 4 roosters left. This was terrible for me because...
I know this has been discussed before but the threads I read didn't answer my question.
My veterinarian provides me with Injectable Baytril 22.7 for my bird breeding and poultry breeding hobbies. I do not eat their eggs.
Now here's the question: I once had a chart showing how much baytril...
Hello,
I believe I have a Serama bantam that is both male and female. There is a technical word for that but it slips my mind. She started out as a jet black girl with black even on her comb and feet and no white anywhere. This is unusual in a Serama.
As she grew, she developed a rooster...
I've always had a problem with snakes eating eggs, but lately it has gone way beyond that. I recently sold 31 of my Serama bantams. I had too many to keep up with! They stay in a huge walk in chicken yard with double netting on top. They sleep on roosts that are in a open ended shelter that...
I raise Serama bantams and I had 4 babies hatch for a friend who wants them. Within 48 hours, all chicks were dead and the only sign was a bit of blood around the nostrils. But when I picked one up, I saw a few mites crawling. I fight them all the time and I thought that problem was under...
I am fighting mites on my bantams. I put drops of ivermectin on their behinds but as you know this only stops them for awhile because the mites are waiting patiently on the ground for their blood source to taste good again.
At this point I want to dust my entire enclosed chicken yard which is...
Hello,
I am hoping that someone here knows someone who makes small custom made nestboxes for hens I have made them myself but am too busy and booked up to make them right now. Surely there must be someone who likes to do this in their spare time and sell to people like me. I raise Malaysian...
If you vaccinate your chickens against for fowl pox and you happen to miss a few, will the innoculated ones give the pox to those that you missed? I"ve always wondered this and I am vaccinating soon.
Thanks
I am about to worm my flock and will be using piperazine for general worms. I'd also like to treat for tape worms and would like to know if anyone has a source for the medication to do this. You can PM me if you like. Thanks.
Why can't you eat eggs after worming with Piperazine? I feel like if it doesn't harm the chicken, how could it harm the one who eats the eggs.
Thanks,

Well, I've tried everything except ivermectin on my chickens to get rid of mites and I just ordered a bottle. I've tried sevin, Adams spray, Scalex, DE, and finally tried that expensive Frontline. Even the Frontline didn't work. My bantams only get them on their behinds, mostly right on the...
I'm trying to remember what kind of grasses and bushes I use to plant in my chicken yard. I just got started with chickens again after a few yrs out of it. There were some grasses and bushes that I used to plant that chickens would not eat. I'm pretty sure Mondo grass was one of them but...
I'm getting ready to have a nice big fenced in area for my chickens, probably 7 ft high and I plan to put a wired top on it or else it would be pointless. If anybody has done that, please tell me the best way to do it. Since I'm planning a really big pen, about 20 ft X 14 ft (at least), I...
Mostly I raise Serama Bantams and they are safe inside their nice little coop with a run and an indoor area. But recently I decided I wanted to raise some large breed chickens and I got 3 Buff Orpingtons at the local feed store. Took me a long time to realize that all 3 were roosters. They...
My chickens have mites (I believe it's the Northern mite) and they gather at the oil gland at the top of the tail. I've been through this before but these seem to be really aggressive. I've been spraying their behinds with a pyrethrin spray and alternating it with Sevin dust. But they keep...
