Hello everyone! Today I noticed our Speckled Sussex had a white looking eye. I'm not sure how to describe it, so please see picture below. No pus, but looks like the inner eyelid is injured or infected. Adding a video soon.
Is there anything I can do to help with this?
Wanted to post a little joy here.
Meet Derp. He is the happiest chicken.
Long story short, we ordered some Freedom Rangers from our local chick shop (meat intention) and after getting them in the brooder, I didn't think this one was going to make it. I noticed the crossed beak right away...
Our neighbors dog just attacked one of our girls. She's 8mos old, Easter egger.
It's a small dog, but got her by the neck. No external injuries, just bleeding from the mouth.
Anything we can do to encourage clotting? We have her inside now. Breathing sounds labored and worth a slight...
Hello all, I've been reading through some posts on paralyzed chickens, but our girl Ruth seems to have different symptoms. Looking for any advice. Ruth was rehomed to us by a family who didn't want their birds anymore, so sadly we don't know her age or vaccination status. There's only one place...
Hello again friends,
One of my coworkers asked me to take in a family chicken with cross beak. The initial picture I received didn't look too bad and I figured some beak trimming and tlc would do the trick.
Upon receiving her, it's much worse than I thought...
No idea what her age or breed is...
Hello friends,
It's been a rough year on our flock. We successfully saved one of our dearest hens from sour crop thanks to the lovely help from this community! Now I'm back asking for further assistance.
20ish month old Australorp
No previous illness or injury
No signs of injury

Last year, we had a golden sexlink that became very lethargic suddenly. She went from happy and healthy to pushing her head against the coop wall and being non responsive. As it was winter, we brought her inside and she perked right up. We acclimated her back outside with the flock and found she...
We started our first flock this year with 6 golden sexlink hens, and 2 Ancona ducks.
One duck had a raspy quack, but was healthy. Seemed like a female whimper.
The ducks are almost 4 mos old now, and the raspy duck, Lisa, now has curled tail feather, which we were told is a dead give away that...
Hello there friends,
We have two Ancona ducks a little over two months old. Both seem very happy and healthy, minus the fact that one seems to wheeze rather than quack. And she seems to be wheezing more often now.
Doesn't appear to have any blockages, no runny eyes or nose, and not overweight...
Salutations friendly fowl friends!
While we just registered with BYC, we have spent hours reviewing comments in forums and articles here as brand new chicken and duck parents, and all have been extremely helpful! Our ladies are so happy!!
We live in Alaska, and need winter hardy critters.
