Hello Everyone,
Im not sure that anyone makes what I’m looking for - maybe one of you might know.
If it’s not made by someone- I am pretty mechanical- I’ll make it myself with all the parts/ hardware.
I would like to be able to have an automatic ( on a timer) hydraulic opener on my Run Door.

One of my hens ( Bantam) has gone what I believe to be - Broody. Ok - it’s spring, I’ll deal with it.
Decision was made to let her hatch out. OK.
She’s in nest 90% of the day & night - only comes out fo about 15 min. In middle of day.
She eats, drinks, poops, preens, etc.

10 degrees this a.m. here in my neck of the woods. My day to clean poop Boards.
Normally I use my sifter to lift poo out of sand/ straw mixture .
Today everything frozen solid - with gloves, just picked it up - cleaned all 3 boards in 8 minutes.
So, I should stop griping about the cold.
Every time I go into the run over last few days to give morning mash,
I find myself mumbling about the “ Kansas City Chiefs “
All my flock has to say is. Bucks,Bucks,Bucks.
Oh -soo bad
I‘ m gonna get banned from this board.
Have a good. Day
Photo shows 2 Silver Laced Wyandotte chicks. Born the same time as all the others. Lower one in photo is Runt.
The one just above is sister.
At 16 days all, including her sister are measurably bigger.
Might it be the “ Breed “, or just Genetics or just this chick.
Thanks in Advance
Craig

Well, over the last 4 months or so, I have been dragging my feet ( mostly because of expense), with biting the bullet & getting the electric fence.
I let the ladies out when I’m home during the day, & usually I am in & out enough, that I figured it would deter most predators, except
for Hawks...
Morning Everyone,
One of my Buff Orpingtons is about 35 weeks old.
every egg she has laid has been soft shell, most breaking upon landing. I have oyster shell on the side, which she never touch’s.
She appears healthy, eats & drinks regularly.
Last week, I tried scrambled eggs with egg shells...
Morning All.
unfortunately, The black spots I am seeing on my Orpingtons Comb/ wattle appear to be pox.
anything I can treat this with - short of vaccination.
Thanks
Craig

My Buff Orpington started laying last week. I took the suggestion to put fake eggs in nesting boxes - it worked.
The rest of the girls are not laying yet, so I moved the fake eggs into the other nest boxes that she doesn’t like to use.
Seems every day, even though she’s not using those boxes...

Well, I’m sure you all are wondering why I waited till this age to have chickens.!
I just wanted to make sure I was mature enough to handle all the enjoyment I was going to have.
Live in NYS, I have been in the planning stage for the last 8 months or so. I finally finished my Building my Run...
