I was wondering about the alternatives that I can use other then hay for my chickens and doves where they can lay their eggs. I just want to have something soft but easily accessible.
THere are these little black and brownish tiny mite things on my chickens. The chickens now have a pretty big patch of red skin on their backs with no feathers in the patch. How do I get rid of these pests?! Please help!
I live in Florida but it still gets pretty cold down here. LAst winter it went down to the low twenties. Will Rhode Island reds do ok in temperatures that cold?
Should I keep spraying the eggs with water too keep up humidity? And I don't have a standard incubator, I only have a 100 watt bulb, a bix plastic box, and a cover with a couple small holes in it (small as in 2 inches). What else should I do ? This is day 18 and lockdown, should I do anything...

I need to know anything and everything there is to know about chicken egg hatching. I currently have the eggs in a bin with a couple ucovered holes on the top. The bulb is a 100 watt halogen bulb. What else do I need to know?
