    Bullying

I have 3 hens that are bullies. My other newer hens run away from them and are fine but I have one who lays down instantly when she sees them coming and lets them peck her repeatedly. She doesn’t even try to get away. I put a saddle on her today because her back feathers are gone. Any advice...

    Broody hen

I have a broody hen who’s about to hatch some chicks. She’s bullied the most so I’m worried about her chicks when they hatch. Where she’s nesting is perfect for a baby gate. Would that be enough safety or do I need a top?

    Bumble foot?

One of my girls has a swollen toe. Thought it was bumble foot but when I opened it there was no kernel just blood and the tissue looked fairly healthy. I sprayed it with vetericyn and put neosporin and Prid on it then wrapped it up. It is bumble or not? I also soaked in epsom.

    Chicken sitter

I’m going out of town for one night. I’m having trouble finding someone to put my chickens to bed and let them out. They free range. I’ve posted on social media and my neighbor is elderly. I can’t find anyone willing to do it. My first question is, how bad would it be to just leave the coop...

    Feathers and mites

So we’ve been battling mites for a while and finally today I only saw 2 alive on my chicken which is good however, she had clumps in her feathers. I assumed they were mite eggs so I clipped them out because I didn’t want anything hatching. I’m not sure if it’s eggs or just clumps from the...

    Mites egg clumps

What’s the best way to remove mite egg clumps near chickens vent? She’s has several dirt baths and permethrin dustings but now I’ve noticed clumps (with a few mites crawling around them still) and I’m assuming they’re mite eggs.

New chicken owner here. First I’ve been battling some type of mites for 3 days. They’re on 2 of my chickens vents, on the roost and eggs. I burned everything and hosed/ washed the coop and now I don’t see as many and they look like they’re dyeing. I would like to add that I’m a crazy clean freak...

    Nesting boxes

I have 3 questions: 1-my chickens are 12 weeks old, is it too early to install my boxes? 2- what’s the best spot in the coop for nesting boxes? High? Low? Near roosting or further away? 3: my chickens free range during the daytime, will they return to the coop to lay? TIA :frow

    Roosting bars

I have (5) 12 week old chickens I originally had dowels and I was told to use 2x4 instead so this is what they are doing at night now…there’s 3 on the floor. The one on the top left is on a skinny maybe 1x1 shelve brace. Any suggestions? Or changes I should make? Or what’s going on here? Lol I’m...
