Okay, I have two Belgian d’uccles and a frizzle. I believe they’re all roosters but would like some confirmation before I rehome them since I’ve got it wrong before. They’re all crowing, though the brown one is the only one who does it all day. The Belgian duccles are 3 months and the frizzle is...
I’ve been expecting one of my chicks to pass for a couple days now, but it keeps pulling through. I’m heartbroken and not sure what to do. It’s obviously a fighter but I’m worried it has Coryza or something similar, endangering my older birds (it is separated from the flock) or being a carrier...
Hi there, just wanted to confirm if this is scaly leg mites or just a silkie x thing?
If it is, I know I should coat the legs in Vaseline, but how do I prevent the chook from pecking at it, messing it up or getting it dirty?
Is this some sort of baby crow? It’s a bit early, so I’m worried it’s something else. Judging by the comb size and colour, it’s definitely a boy. The breed is Belgian duccle.
Purchased two babies yesterday and I woke up this morning and at least one of them is pooping blood. I’m going to try to treat them for cocci and put nutrients in their water, is there anything else I should do? What could be the reason for this?
Just found this in the coop this morning. Been seeing bits and pieces of it in some poop, but was told it was nothing to worry about. Can someone tell me is this this the blood in the poop I’ve been warned about or just another chicken thing? And of it is, how should I treat it?
Sorry for the bad photos, they were difficult to get.
3m.o GLW, assumed to be cockerels, though I wanted a second opinion. One has the classic breed rose comb and the other a single “normal” one, not sure what to call it. Easiest way to tell the difference, if you need it.
I’ll try and take...
Not sure if this is the right place to put this, but here we go.
One of my girls did this big one this morning and I was concerned and wanted a breakdown to see if there’s something I should be worried about, and if so, what treatment I should pursue.
Little stringy bits hanging out of her...
Not sure if this should be in diseases/injuries.
My 2 day old chicken has an overly large belly and is very sleepy. The belly button is not infected and it’s having trouble walking. I know these are really bad signs and that it’s probably going to die, but is there anything I can do for it? I’ll...
Hi all. My chicken started sneezing this morning with no fluids or anything appearing out of the nose. She had just laid an egg when I found her sneezing in her box, and I brought her inside to quarantine, in which she sneezed a bit more. I’m a little worried about her since I know these things...
Can’t describe it any better. I’m fairly sure it’s not frostbite, since I live in QLD Australia and it’s only been hot here. Doesn’t really look like some of the other things google suggested either. Any info would be appreciated. Is this something to worry about?
I recently got some young hens from someone online. We chatted fora bit and she seemed lovely, so we met up. Upon arriving, I could feel something was off. It was the way she grabbed the chickens, and the look of the smallest one, a frizzle. Now, I have severe anxiety and depression, severe...
Hey guys! This little mixed breed is coming up on 3 months now and I’m fairly sure it’s a roo. Before I make any permanent arrangements, can anyone give me a certain answer?
Attached are his photos from a couple angles, as well as his sister for comparison. Any help would be appreciated. :)...
Hi, a couple months ago I got chickens, and I haven’t for the life of me been able to figure out their genders. Every time I think I’ve got it right, something happens to surprise me. A couple weeks ago, Storey’s brother Tilly, yes, Tilly, started crowing. He was the most dominant one of the...
My chicken started crowing this morning, and since I live in a residential area, I cannot keep it. Trying to find a new home for him and I thought having an inkling of the breed might be handy for potential owners. Tilly (yes unfortunately I gave him a hen name) is 2 months and 21 days old, if...
Hi there. I’m wanting to start a veggie scrap bucket for my chickens. We have a compost heap so I’d like some advice sorting out what can be good and delicious treats, vs stuff that could be dangerous or that chickens just don’t usually enjoy. If anyone could create a little list for me of what...
Last night, my disabled chicken, Roma, who could not walk, was strangled to death and eaten by a big carpet python. She was 4 months old, and the sweetest chicken I had ever laid eyes on. Even though she was young, she kept safe my other chicks, who were only around 2 months old. I heard her...
Roma is my young, beautiful hen that I’m raising with three other chicks. Since getting her at a couple weeks old, her walking seems to be getting worse and worse. She’s well mannered and very friendly towards people, however she trips over her own feet and can’t get up afterwards, so she just...
