Today when feeding I noticed one of our ducklings acting weirdly with the mother and other duckings pretty far away. when I picked it up٫ it looked sick so I brought it inside to give electrolytes and to further inspect. It can not get its feet under it and just looks unwell over all. It drank...
My Animal Science teacher is planning to hatch quail٫ ducks٫ Muscovy ducks٫ and chickens all in the same incubator. Will anything be able to hatch with all of the temperature٫ humidity٫ and incubation period differences?
I told her I had fertile duck and bantam eggs٫ but would rather hatch them...
I came home today to our incubator at 120 degrees - the temperature knob had gotten bumped and was at the highest setting. I immediately opened the incubator and got the temp back to 100. My partner had checked it a few times throughout the day and said the temperature was good٫ but it could...
Went to feed my OEG and saw a fairly large bump next to his right wing. I have no idea what caused it.
He just recovered from being covered in mites/lice and also just got pullorum tested. He moves the leg and wing fine and acts fine otherwise. He is supposed to go to a show in a month...
Im looking for a NPIP certified breeder/hatchery to buy show quality bantam OEG hatching eggs from. Im looking for the Mille Fleur color, but i know that they are hard to find so any color would do as long as it isn't "assorted."
The only hatchery I've ever bought from is Meyer Hatchery, but...
My one duck (a call duck crossed with khaki Campbell, I think? The person I bought her from said she was khaki, but she's way too dark and looks a lot more like a call duck) Has been limping for about a month now. She kind of stands on it, but she walks low to the ground with it out to the side...
Anyone know of a place to get OEG eggs in NY(or somewhere that ships and isn't crazy expensive)? looking for mille fleur colored (preferably porcelain or pearl) show-quality purebred.
I have a show tomorrow and I was wondering, what's the correct comb type for Old English? And, how can I tell if my rooster's comb is a dubbed single comb or a rose comb (Since some people cut it right above the head and others don't)?
Does it work? im thinking of getting one for my four bantams, since I'd like them to be able to be outside but safe at the same time.
One like this: https://www.petsmart.com/small-pet/cages-habitats-and-hutches/hutches/trixie-sloped-roof-rabbit-hutch-14399.html or...
Note: we have him back now!
I was showing at a fair, and when I went to pick up my chickens, my roosters cage was empty & latched. I checked the champion row, because he won best OE and hadn't been moved the day of the show, but since it happens often I didn't bring attention to it. He wasn't...
Garlic works well to get mites off of the birds themselves, but they are e v e r y w h e r e
In the feed, on the ground, on the walls
My chicken coop is inside of our barn, so spraying wouldnt be able to get everything; there are too many small spaces
Are there any other options?
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I've had chickens since I was little, only started showing about 6 years ago
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? Over 100, only about 12 that I personally own and show
(3) What breeds do you have? Two old English bantams...
