I am totally new to chickens. Lulu, my buff orpington has been laying steadily since early December (when she layed her first egg) and yesterday, all of last night and so far to date has not left the nest. She has been sitting on a golf ball and acting very protective...fluffing feathers...

Our well water is very high in calcium so I have not been giving any to my pullets. They are now 15 weeks old. When is it safe to give it to them? Should I wait until they start laying or was I just being too neurotic and they would have been fine with the well water anyway?
